REVIEW – As a gadget reviewer, I have tested several gaming headsets. Many of them have worked well and produced a good audio experience for my son, who is heavily into gaming. Now, I am looking for a headset that delivers exceptional performance and durability to meet his continuously evolving audio demands for Fortnite and the other games he plays. What is it?

The Corsair Virtuoso MAX Wireless Gaming Headset produces spectacularly clear and precise audio. It includes a broadcast-grade omnidirectional microphone and features Dolby Atmos, Active Noise Cancelling, Sonarworks SoundID, Simultaneous 2.4GHz Wireless & Bluetooth, and 50mm Graphene Drivers. The Corsair Virtuoso MAX Wireless Gaming Headset features an aluminum frame for both the headband and the earcups. The outer surface of the earcup is enhanced by RGB lighting around each earcup. Both the headband and earcups have built-in memory foam cushioning.

On the left earcup, is a power switch that allows selection between the USB dongle connection and Bluetooth mode and the detachable microphone’s USB-C connection. The detachable microphone also has a mute button, which connects via a dedicated USB-C port. The right earcup has a mode/custom button that serves multiple functions and also a USB-C charging port. There is an Action Switch for media control.

Performance

The Corsair Virtuoso MAX Wireless Gaming Headset features 50mm Graphene drivers, Dolby Atmos spatial audio, and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). It offers connectivity via an included wireless dongle or Bluetooth. The wireless dongle takes advantage of the full set of features.

The audio quality of the Corsair Virtuoso MAX Wireless Gaming Headset is exceptional. They sound quite rich and balanced right out of the box. Whether listening to music, watching a movie, or performing the critical duties needed by my son when he is deep in a gaming session of Fortnite, the level of detail and clarity is remarkable.

Corsair provides iCUE software that is a companion to the Virtuoso MAX Wireless Gaming Headset, and it offers a useful suite of customization options. It provides features like RGB lighting control, ANC settings, and microphone adjustments. The software includes a Sound-ID Personalization feature, which creates a custom audio profile based on a short listening test.

Software:

This headset also offers an impressive battery life. It claims to last up to 60 hours of use on a full charge, and my testing confirms this to be accurate. My son uses the headset every night for maybe 4 hours a day and only recharges it on the weekends.

Overall, this headset has lived up to the claims of a high-end audio experience including exceptional sound quality, long battery life, and the versatile connectivity options of the wireless dongle or Bluetooth.

My son has now extensively tested the Corsair Virtuoso MAX Wireless Gaming Headset and has given his Seal of Approval. The headset delivers exceptional sound quality, and its 60-hour battery life is impressive. While some may view the headset as big and bulky, none of this bothers my son. The fact that he has so far not been able to damage it in a timeframe that numerous others have entered the trash can all add up to a thumbs up for Corsair.
