She is very much into ensuring that our family eats healthy and has spent much time pursuing organic compost. Every day, we produce a lot of food scraps in our kitchen, and being able to use the scraps as compost in a way and process that is inconspicuous, is a great opportunity. Design and features
The Luma Electric Kitchen Composter is a simple design with an outer shell with a removable bucket inside. The top cover is connected to the handle and is opened using a twisting movement. Placing the lid on top and turning it clockwise/counter-clockwise turns the device on/off. There is a glass window in the center of the cover that provides visibility. The control touchpad is also on the top of the device. The removable cartridge sits in a compartment on the side.
Performance
The Luma Electric Kitchen Composter is easy to set up and get started. The only thing I needed to do was install the cartridge.
Once I installed the cartridge it was time to add scraps and give it a go.
At my house, we throw the scraps in during the day, and close to 11 PM we turn it on and go to bed. When we get up in the morning we have what always appears to be perfect compost. When I first witnessed the process it seemed like magic. Keep in mind that I have tested other kitchen composters but in my opinion, none work as well as this Luma. While the capacity is not huge, I could conceivably run it 3 times each day but I don’t have that need. I am so happy that there is no odor and that it is a straightforward process. I only need to be sure not to put “forbidden” items.
I have not had it long enough to testify to the longevity of the carbon filter, but time will tell.
Overall, this is like the perfect kitchen composter that has never failed to produce great compost as promised.

What needs to be improved?
- I wish it could hold a bit more of the scraps
- I am unable to find the cost and availability of the Carbon cartridge
Final thoughts
Without a doubt, the Luma Electric Kitchen Composter is a great addition to our kitchen and produces nice compost. It is easy to use, odorless, and works quickly. Great device.
