REVIEW – I am a member of the iPhone upgrade program, which means I receive a new iPhone annually. Whenever I get a new iPhone, I also need a new case to protect it because I don’t trust myself to go caseless. I have been using Nomad cases for several years, and this year is no different. Below is my review of the Nomad Rugged Case for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
What is it?
The Nomad Rugged Case protects your iPhone 16 Pro Max from all angles. Its durable polycarbonate frame and fortified corner bumpers ensure protection.
Design and features
The Nomad Rugged Case has a surprisingly light in-hand feel. It features a lay-flat design with durable TPU bumpers on the corners and a camera ring.
It’s very similar in design to the iPhone 15 Pro Max version, with the significant differences being available colorways and a cutout for the new Camera Control button.
Speaking of color, the Rugged Case comes in a range of classic colorways so you can customize your iPhone’s look. It’s available in Black, Atlantic Blue, Forest, and Desert.
I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium, so I went with the Desert color. The color isn’t an exact match, but it looks terrific. The matte finish is also fingerprint-resistant, so your iPhone always looks good.
The Camera Control button cutout is concave and smooth, making it easy and comfortable to access the newest iPhone 16 Pro Max feature.
The Rugged Case retains one of my favorite features: the anodized aluminum buttons. Not only do they look great, but they also provide the tactile feel of actual iPhone buttons, as opposed to the rubber-covered buttons found on other cases.
Other standout features of the Nomad Rugged Case are MagSafe and wireless charging compatibility, 15ft drop protection, and a microfiber interior.
What I like about the Nomad Rugged iPhone Case
- Great lightweight design
- Anodized aluminum buttons
- Precise cut out for the Camera Control Button
- MagSafe and wireless charging compatibility
What needs to be improved
- Bring on some funky, bright colorways.
Final thoughts
The Nomad Rugged Case continues an impressive line of iPhone cases. I think everyone should have at least one Nomad case in their collection, and the Rugged Case is a great place to start.
