REVIEW – My partner bought a cheap armless wide chair for her office a few months ago. She absolutely loved the format of this chair, since she can shift positions frequently and with more variety than a standard tall back chair with arms. These kinds of chairs are great if you like tucking one leg up next to you and switching legs every once in a while. You can even sit cross-legged on them! Unfortunately, that chair broke rather quickly (the metal on the underside of the chair seat broke to where the seat was falling off the base). Around the same time, GTRACING offered the Cozy Series CH310 chair for review and it looked like it would fill the exact niche that had just opened up.

What is it?

The GTRacing Cozy Series CH310 armless desk chair is an armless desk chair with a lower back and a wide sitting area. The chair is available in black, white, and grey, with faux leather in all colors and a velvet option for grey and white. We were sent the grey velvet model.

What’s included?

Design and features

The GTRacing Cozy Series CH310 armless desk chair is a nice looking chair, especially in the grey velvet material (extra especially if your house is mostly a mixture of “millennial beige” colors).  It swivels around the metal base and rollers, has height and tilt adjustments, and sports dual layer padding for comfort.

From the front, you can see that the seat has a gentle curve, which both myself and my partner found quite comfortable. The padding has also held up well after a month, and doesn’t feel like you’re sitting on hard board after a few hours (many cheaper chairs have padding that compresses over time and you quickly feel like you’re just sitting on wood).

The product images show the chair back leaning back independent of the chair seat but in reality, the mechanism works like most other office chairs: the entire chair back and seat tilt back together if the lever is unlocked. I do like the ability to lean back when I want, and the amount of resistance is adjustable by the large knob in front of the gas lift.

The roller wheels are your standard office chair wheels, they roll well on hard floors, and do fine on carpet as well. They don’t feel cheap but time will tell on durability.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

Installation of the GTRacing Cozy Series CH310 armless desk chair is similar to most office chairs, except for assembly of the base. You first have to slide five arms onto a star shaped hub and secure with bolts. This was a first for me (I’ve probably assembled 10 or so office chairs over the years), but it only added a few minutes to the build time.

After that you push the wheels into the arms and drop the gas lift into the central hole.

You then have to attach a plate to the bottom of the seat (there are helpful “front” stickers on both parts to avoid confusion).

And finally the chair’s back is bolted onto the chair’s seat as shown above. Note the hole below the spot I’m working on, this is the hold that will slip onto the gas lift, and it looks far more sturdy and thick than the previous chair we had that broke. Total assembly time took around 30 minutes with some distractions. Hopefully this chair will last for years to come!

Performance

First impressions of the GTRacing Cozy Series CH310 armless desk chair were very good, the layers of fluffy and firm padding feel good to sit on. The angle and shape of the chair is also good for both me and my partner with pretty different body types. I’m 6’4″ and normally prefer shoulder/neck support but don’t mind sitting at this chair to work or play. I think the ability to shift positions more often helps with preventing stiffness and soreness in any particular body part.

The gas lift and tilt mechanism work as well as any other office/gaming chair I’ve bought and reviewed.

What I like about the GTRacing Cozy Series CH310 armless desk chair

  • Love the shape and style
  • Good padding – soft but doesn’t hurt after long sessions
  • Seems well built, no signs of wear after review period and daily use

What needs to be improved?

  • Tilt doesn’t lock in place in any position but fully upright – you can adjust the tension of the tilt mechanism but many other chairs allow locking in various reclined angles.
  • Depending on what you’re doing, armless chairs can cause more arm strain. This was offset for me by being able to rest my arms on my legs in some positions (usually one or the other and switching off), but you may miss having arm rests.

Final thoughts

The GTRacing Cozy Series CH310 armless desk chair is performing well as a daily-use office chair for my partner. She loves the size, shape, color, material, and padding level on the chair. I also used it for extended gaming sessions and it was as good as any of the other many chairs I’ve bought or reviewed over the years, with the added bonus of more sitting positions. The only drawback for me in longer gaming sessions was the lack of arm support, I did have tired arms from time to time.

  2. Matt,

How is this chair for back support? It doesn’t seem to have the back height or lumbar support I would need. Thanks..

    1. It’s a good shape and height to give me a bit of lumbar support, but there’s no upper back or neck support. The strength of this chair is the fact that you can shift into more positions, mitigating same-position fatigue over time, this will be great for some people but not others.
