Design and performance
The Vosteed Acorn is a great pocket knife. It feels great in my hand and I really like the green and gold color combination.
The side clip is tight and holds the knife snugly in my pocket. In carrying it around for a couple of weeks it hasn’t shown any signs of weakening or loosening up. Depending on how you like to carry your knife, you can also switch sides easily. This also reveals my one gripe about this knife. The notch that isn’t being used looks like something is missing. An insert for that slot would be my preference. I might even print one up on my 3D printer just to make it look more finished.
This is the first knife I’ve owned with a micarta handle. At first I was a little skeptical, but it has grown on me a ton. It grips well, is light, and develops its own character the more you use the knife.
The blade on this knife is made with 14C28N steel, which is well-known for being tough and holding an edge well. The black finish on the blade looks pretty cool too. With regular use I don’t expect that to hold up as well, but it’s doing great so far.
The jimping on the back of the knife adds to the grip and prevents any sliding when you’re cutting. Nice feature.
What I like about the Vosteed Acorn
- Lightweight design
- Very sharp knife that retained an edge very well
- Jinping along the back of the knife give it excellent grip
- The ability to shift which side the clip is on is a nice addition to customize it to your handedness.
What needs to be improved?
- An insert for the clip slot not in use
Final thoughts
The Vosteed Acorn is a great EDC pocketknife. It’s the first knife I’ve had with a micarta body and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice lightweight knife. The price is nice too, considering the steel and body combo used.
