REVIEW – After suffering a power outage for a day and a half from a freak snowstorm in October, I decided I would pick up another portable power station. The VTOMAN Jump 1500X Portable Power Station review offer came along, and although it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, I ended up taking them up on the offer, and I’m glad I did.

Design and features

When I chose the VTOMAN Jump 1500X for review I had two main goals; Ease of use and at least 1500W output. I wanted a portable power station that my wife, friends, or family could operate without instructions; something I could easily loan out in an emergency.

I already have a power station that has orange accents, so the VTOMAN’s yellow trim accents on both the power station and the solar panel make it easy to know which solar panel goes with which unit. The yellow trim also makes it easier to see in poorly lit areas, which will probably be the case when it’s being used at night.

The VTOMAN Jump 1500X also has an optional Jump 1500 Extra Battery that can be connected to the unit to 2376Wh (sold separately – $699). Next to the extra battery port is a jump port that can be used as a car jump starter, but VTOMAN did not send the cable that is also sold separately ($29.99).

The VTOMAN Jump 1500X has an 828Wh LiFePO4 (LFP) Battery with a lifespan of 3000 cycles and delivers up to 1500W of output to 12 devices at once. The Jump 1500X can also provide 3000W of output for peak/startup devices.

The pure sine wave AC inverter provides clean power for delicate electronic devices so all of your AC and DC power needs will be met. The regulated 12C DC output is perfect for powering 12V devices such as car fridges, CPAP machines, and tire inflators.

Although the Jump 1500X doesn’t charge as fast as my other unit, it does handle a rapid recharge of 80% in just 4 hours via the wall charger, car charger, or solar panels. This is still faster than some of my power units that take nearly 8 hours to charge.

A large handle makes it easy to carry

Included with the Jump 1500X is a very nice carry case that includes the AC power adapter, 12V car charging cable, and two USB cables. The case has enough space to add your own cables, so you’ll have everything you need in case of a power outage.

The Jump 1500X has a plethora of USB ports. Four USB-A ports including a quick charge port and dual PD 100W Type-C ports ensure that you’ll be able to charge most of your modern devices without having to use the AC output portion.

Operation of the Jump 1500X is easy; simply push the button located near the output type and the unit turns on those ports. An easy-to-read display shows which ports are active, the battery level, power wattage, and how long the unit can run at that output level.

On the back of the unit is an LED light. This is a welcomed feature, as when the power is out, the last thing you want to do is find a light to plug in so you can see what you’re doing.

VTOMAN was kind enough to include their Portable Solar Panel for me to try out. I found it to be one of the nicest portable solar panels I have reviewed. Not only does it include an integral handle, but it also has a pocket for cables. The cable is a generous 9.8 feet long, which makes it easier to position the power station on either side of the solar panels – something I had issues with when using other solar panels.

It’s a big solar panel!

It’s December here in Michigan, and even though the sun is not as bright as during the summer, I was able to get 160W of solar power from the panels during the mid-morning. The Jump 1500X displays the solar panel power output while it’s charging.

160W of solar power early in the morning!

The VTOMAN Portable Solar Panel outputs 220W/19V and has multiple connections making it compatible with many other devices. I was disappointed that it did not have USB ports integrated into it like other solar panels, but it’s still a very nice panel. The solar panel was easy to set up with three integral legs. Another great feature of the panel is that it has a slot for the cable and cable ends built into the handle to keep the cables neatly stored when not in use.

I liked how the cable stores in the handle!

A 23% High Energy Conversion Rate ensures that you’ll get maximum output from the panel. The panel also includes grommet holes for hanging or tying down if it’s windy. An IP67 water-resistant rating means it’s splashproof. The MC-4 connectors along with a DC5521(5.5mm*2.1mm) connector means it will connect to many other devices as well.

The solar panel measures 25.6*23.7*2 inches when folded and weighs 19.2 lbs. The unfolded dimensions are 95.7*23.7*0.2 inches.

What I like

  • Large carry handle
  • Easy to operate
  • Simple and easy-to-read screen

What I’d change

  • I would prefer if the AC charger was built-in

Final thoughts

I have enjoyed using the VTOMAN Jump 1500X for various tasks and have not found anything that I didn’t like. The ease of operation gives me peace of mind that if I’m not home my friends or family would be able to operate it. Sometimes a bunch of extra features just get in the way. This power station will certainly remain one of my go-to units for the foreseeable future. At first, I was skeptical of the lack of “advanced” features, but in the end, pushing a button and getting power was all I really needed.
