NEWS – I love the flexibility of a good convertible bag, but many of the designs I see present usability compromises as you switch between carrying modes. The new Cambiata by Tom Bihn looks it might fix that!
Tom Bihn calls it a convertible tote/backpack, but it looks more like a vertical messenger to me. This bag comes in at 21 liters in total capacity, and will take on a laptop up to 16″ MacBook Pro in a dedicated compartment. Internal and external organization abound here including a side-zipped hydration bottle pocket that will take bigger bottles. The backpack straps are stowable, and the shoulder strap is removable. On top of all that the bag is also designed to stand on it own.
I’m excited about this one. I haven’t seen an EDC/office commuter design out of Tim Bihn in a long time, and this one looks like the design is tuned perfectly for the workplace. If you are interested the pre-order period starts on Tuesday July 20 and lasts for two weeks, with a deliveries planned for late September. The price tag is $200.
