NEWS – I’ve seen lots of bolt action pens, but the Tactiv WP09 Bolt Action pen from KeySmart is the first one I’ve seen that puts the bolt action mechanism in the pocket clip. Nice! This EDC pen is constructed with machined aluminum, stainless steel, and polished copper. It features 100% waterproof Rite-In-The-Rain permanent ink that will let you write your important notes underwater and in extreme temperatures (-30°F to 250°F). Want to add one to your EDC gear collection? Then head over to KeySmart.com or Amazon where you can buy one for $49.99.

  2. Well, fwiw, this isn’t the first writing instrument available that has incorporated a clip for the bolt-action mechanism.

In 2017, and even though Adam Hogsett’s creation debuted on ks (erm, kickstarter, not keysmart) later (though it was designed around the same time, like convergent evolution!), he shared his second iteration of the Machine Era Field Pen (and, aside: Version 2 of the Bolt-action Field Pen is actually gonna drop soon, and is designed for the Parker-compatible International G2 ink cartridges; the previous incarnation was a shorter, pocketable design w/ the Fisher PR4-sized refills, w/o the plastic adapter on back, in mind), which, along with Kelvin Verrett’s Urban Survival Gear TiScribe-Bolt (and his latest is the TiScribe-Go, which is currently a pre-order), helped a bunch of folks see the possibilities of the clip/bolt-action pen idea. Two versions can be seen over yonder: https://www.edcforums.com/threads/edc-writing-instrument-picture-thread.95138/page-150#post-2657420 What’s neat about those 2 are that they include a machined clip, imo. 🙂

      1. Awww, just sharin’ info; didn’t mean for it to be taken as a schooling, which to me seems like a bad connotation – edifying, maybe? B)
