Design and features
The first thing you notice when you pick up a Blue Yeti microphone is the weight of it. It’s heavy and solid, with a definite feel of quality – a premium quality. The type of feel that you know cheap microphones don’t employ. The pure heft of it helps with the audio quality as well, dampening vibrations that make their way into your audio stream. The semi-matte finish is gorgeous. I initially didn’t think I would like the gold accents, but once I saw them in person I feel it really adds to the character of the microphone.
Crafted together with Blizzard Entertainment, Blue’s Yeti X World of Warcraft Edition professional USB microphone aims to improve your streaming experience with the ability to change the sound of your voice. The all-new advanced voice modulation with Warcraft character presets and Shadowlands and Warcraft HD audio samples create a new level of audio broadcast entertainment.
With 15 advanced effect types, 40 algorithms, and more than 60 parameters, the Blue Yeti X World of Warcraft Edition is sure to entertain and provide a more advanced level of game immersion.
The custom World of Warcraft design combines a matte Battle Grey finish with elegant gold accents, stylized runes, and official World of Warcraft logo engraved along the base. It looks fabulous next to your computer and performs as well as it looks.
The Yeti X World of Warcraft Edition is plug and play on both PC and Mac. The Yeti X integrates deeply with Logitech’s G HUB platform. With G HUB, you can customize the colors of the Warcraft rune LED lights to match your on-stream aesthetic. Using G HUB, you can customize additional LED color zones on the microphone, including the smart knob, LED ring and the pickup pattern icons on the back of the mic.
The four pickup patterns are very nice to have, as I could choose the best pattern for the audio since the microphone was near the wall. This is perhaps one of the key features that separate a cheap microphone from a great one. It also makes the microphone more useful for other scenarios like interviews, sound samples, and ASMR. The pickup pattern switch is on the back of the mic, and it would be nice to have the pattern switch on the front of the microphone. The active gain control knob on the front combined with the LED level indicators show you the level of audio volume you’re sending and if it’s peaking. By the way, instead of just standard round LED’s, the LED level indicators are actually in the shape of runes.
The microphone works right out of the box, as it’s plug and play. However, for more granular control you can install the Logitech G HUB desktop companion app. There are many settings to fine-tune your audio experience. It is the effects section of the G HUB app where you can take advantage of the World of Warcraft voice effects. Your voice will still have some of your own characteristics, as the app just modulates your audio. How much it changes depends on how much effort you put into your voice acting.
In the G HUB app, you can bind specific keys on your mouse or keyboard to various sound effects so that you don’t have to jump over to the app for a quick change of settings.

Final thoughts
Overall, the Blue Yeti X World of Warcraft Edition is a very nice microphone. Its premium quality is evident from the first moment you feel it. I believe it may also make a great collectible item. You surely won’t be disappointed with the audio quality or the build quality.
