I’ve been downsizing the weight and quantity of “stuff” I carry around. This includes my pockets. RC Fibers makes a series of lightweight wallet products made in the USA, so I thought I’d take a look.
First up is the Classic RC Carbon fiber money clip. Measures 2.5 L x 1.75 W x .5 H (inches).
This thing barely measures on the scale at just over 7 grams.
I took out the calipers and measured about 6mm at it’s thickest point.
I managed to stuff three cards and a few bills with ease. I’m not used to carrying money with a clip. Something about the exposed edges seems a little unusual to me. Short of a rubber band, a 7 gram clip is probably as light as it gets.
But let’s say you want something with slots, but want something as light as can be? RC Fibers also carries the D15 Carbon Fiber Money Clip Wallet, also made in the USA.
There are four carbon fiber patters to choose from. I was sent the Twill and the Wasp, with black and tan wallets.

The wallet portion has several organizing slots on the front…
…and one slot on the back.
In total, the wallet and clip weighs in at just under 31 grams.
Feeding time! The wallet easily gobbled up my three cards and a few bills.
I didn’t notice at first, but there’s a not-so-obvious pouch where the two halves meet.
The only thing I noticed that gave me pause was the underside. The wallet saves weight with thing material, as you can see under the slash pocket. The carbon fiber clip is as sturdy as can be. Each money clip comes with a 5 year warranty against de-lamination.

Money clips are nice to have and helpful for holding on to your cash. I haven’t seen ones that pinch like this though, the one’s I’ve seen all use magnets. Magnets would be better at making sure your money doesn’t fall out, but it’s unable to hold things like credit cards.
I’m sure you could use magnets- once.
