Leatherman Raptor will be your emergency multi-tool

Released primarily for medical and emergency response workers, the Leatherman Raptor is made from 420HC stainless steel and includes shears, strap cutter, carbide glass breaker, ring cutter, ruler and an oxygen tank wrench. Due for release in May 2013, pricing hasn’t been announced yet.  It was officially announced on Leatherman’s Facebook page, but it’s not even showing on their website yet.

  2. When time is critical, one has to rely on training and experience. There is no time for trying to figure out how to switch tools when under pressure.

In an emergency situation, a dedicated tool for the job will be more dependable every time.

  3. @RainyDayInterns: On the other hand, when time is critical, the tool that is with you is better than the tool that’s not.

I wouldn’t stock the ambulance with these, but it’s probably worth carrying as a back-up, in case something happens to the main tool set. (Like something gets taken out and forgotten.)

  4. I would not look forward to cleaning the blood, dirt, and other body fluids out of all of the nooks and crannies of those scissors. Better I think to have a cheapo pair of shears you can throw away without regretting the cost.
