The Talk Dock from UncommonGoods connects your phone to an old-fashioned handset and makes it look rather like an old desktop phone. You can use the 30-pin connector with your iPhone, and the Talk Dock will serve as your phone stand, charging dock, and phone receiver. You’ll be able to use your shoulder to hold the receiver against your ear to keep your hands free – just like in those old TV shows and movies you may have seen. ;) The Talk Dock is made of ABS plastic and is available in black or green. Don’t worry if you don’t have an iPhone, because you can still use the receiver with other phones by plugging the receiver’s cord into the 3.5mm audio plug on your phone. You can also detach the handset and take it with you when you don’t want to be tied to your desk. The Talk Dock is $36.00. I picked up a bluetooth retro head set for less than $10 from geeks.com basically because I thought it would be good for a laugh. Imagine my surprise when I find I use it almost exclusively at home. It’s comfortable to hold, has a long lasting charge and the sound quality is great.
Even my wife was asking about getting her one.
This device would be great if it had a decent quality speaker built in that could be used not only for speakerphone purposes, also to play audio from the iPhone, such as iTunes, voice memos, radio apps, etc. And why not make the handset bluetooth?
