Velodyne may be world-famous for their line of sub-woofers, but they are not a brand one associates with personal audio. They do make the critically acclaimed vPulse In-Ear Headphones, but still, the Velodyne name doesn’t exactly elicit recognition among headphone fans. That may be about to change with the release of two beautiful headphones: the wireless vFree and the vTrue studio headphones. The portable and collapsible on-ear vFree sports the latest apt-X Bluetooth, a requirement for anyone who appreciates good audio. Decorative outer skins will also be available to fit any mood or style for a custom look (skins will be an added cost).

vTrue is Velodyne’s over-ear studio headphone, and it’s gorgeous, covered in aluminum and leather. The vTrue’s massive 50 mm driver is tuned for accurate bass – these people do make subwoofers, after all. It will be interesting to see if the audio matches the looks. The Gadgeteer will be reviewing them soon. The vFree retails for $299 and the vTrue is $399 US and is available now.
