From Google, comes the “world’s first social streaming media player”, the Nexus Q .  At 4.6″ (116mm)  and 2 pounds (923gr), the player runs Android 4.0 (ICS) and comes with its own 25W amplifier for external speakers, or it can be interfaced with your home entertainment system. WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC are standard, as well as a number of input and output ports. The Nexus Q streams movies, music and YouTube from the cloud. Using an Android app, multiple users can add items to a “social playlist” and can also change the playlist order.  Luckily, you can also lock guest mode off as well. :)

Available for preorder from the Google Play Store for $299.

This is a cool idea but the only problem I see is that with all the carriers except Sprint dropping their unlimited plans is that using this all the time will have people going over the data plan and people will stop using it or not buy it at all.

Australia has pretty much always had capped monthly plans. It’s something you have to learn to live with and manage :(
