A Floating, Waterproof Case for all 6″ Kindles

on February 20, 2010 3:21 pm

M-Edge has announced the Guardian, a waterproof, floating case for all Kindles with 6″ displays.  The case is made of molded, transparent polycarbonate.  The navigation buttons and keyboard are available through flexible, sealed cutouts, and there is an anti-reflective film over the screen to allow reading in bright sunlight.  Gaskets and a dual-hinge, 4-closure system make the Guardian safe in up to 1 meter of water.  Internal bouyancy chambers make the case float upright, so you can read handsfree.  The front of the case is clear, of course, but the back of the case will come in five colors.  It’s not available right now, so I don’t know a price.  M-Edge has a contest now so you can win your own Guardian – read about it at M-Edge.

This is what I’ve been waiting for before buying a Kindle.

The price looks to be $79.99 (looking at value on page where folks can win one).

Great looking case. I also have come across a more practical case to protect my Kindle from water and sand at the beach called the iLoc Kindle Case. It’s perfect for me for that peace of mind but don’t take it underwater to warrant the need to get these more expensive ones. I got an iLoc Kindle Case for just $2 at http://www.iLocStore.com
