Scissors make quick work of a loose thread or a tag without asking you to unfold a large blade. The choice gets more interesting when the same pocket tool also needs to tighten a screw, file a nail or open a bottle.

These three tools put scissors in very different packages. The ROXON KS2E gives them a larger folding handle and a broader repair kit, the Leatherman Micra opens into a small pair of spring-action scissors, and the Victorinox Rambler keeps everything in a slim keychain knife.

1. ROXON KS2E for a cutting tool with a larger repair kit

Price: $37.99, KS2E with D2 blade; nine-piece bit set available separately as an optional accessory
Where to buy: Amazon, ROXON

The KS2E’s folding, spring-loaded scissors have a handle that extends out of the body for cutting. A D2 knife blade and saw provide separate cutting edges for other jobs.

A separate nine-piece extended bit set, available as an optional accessory,  broadens the fastening options beyond the built-in Phillips and flat drivers. A file, ruler, awl and threader add small repair tasks; bottle and can openers and tweezers round out the everyday tools. The fixed configuration keeps those implements together, with a pocket clip for carry. It does not accept the swappable tools from ROXON’s Flex platform.

The tools deploy one-handed and lock open. Those features make the KS2E the more substantial cutting-and-repair choice here, especially when the extra bits and saw have a regular job. The selected D2-and-bits package is $34.20.

2. Leatherman Micra for scissors that unfold from your keys

Price: $49.95, Cardamom
Where to buy: Amazon, Leatherman

The Micra’s two handles unfold to form spring-action scissors. Closed, it measures 2.5 inches long and weighs 1.8 ounces, with a keyring attachment and a 0.37-inch-thick body. Its small size suits tags, paper and other light cutting jobs that do not justify carrying a larger tool.

The remaining implements fold out from the handles: a 1.6-inch 420HC blade, flat/Phillips driver, medium and extra-small drivers, tweezers, nail file and cleaner, bottle opener and ruler. The blade and implements do not lock.

In Julie Strietelmeier’s Micra review, she found that unfolding the handles before reaching the knife made it less convenient than her pliers-based Squirt. She also found the scissors useful for string, thread, paper and cardstock.

The current Cardamom configuration is listed at $49.95. A sheath is sold separately.

3. Victorinox Rambler for the lightest keyring

Price: $35.00, red model 0.6363
Where to buy: Amazon, Victorinox

At 1.1 ounces and 2.3 inches long, the Rambler is the shorter and lighter of the two keychain models here. Its scissors fold from the familiar red Swiss Army knife body, alongside a small blade and nail file with a 2.5 mm flat screwdriver.

The magnetic Phillips 0/1 driver is the useful extra. It shares an implement with the bottle opener and wire stripper, giving the Rambler both flat and cross-head screw options in a 0.4-inch-thick package. Toothpick, tweezers and a keyring complete its ten functions.

This is the compact choice when nail care, loose threads and small screws account for most of the work. The blade is non-locking and is not a one-handed opener. The red 0.6363 version is $35 before tax; personalized colors are a separate selection.

Match the scissors to the rest of your carry

Tool Strongest reason to choose it Useful distinction
ROXON KS2E Folding scissors plus a saw, D2 blade and a separate optional bit set Fixed implements, with locking deployment
Leatherman Micra A two-handle spring-action scissor design 1.8 ounces; handles unfold before access to the other tools
Victorinox Rambler The lightest keyring package here 1.1 ounces, with a magnetic Phillips 0/1 driver

A keyring tool is easy to keep close, but its small frame also limits the grip available for a cut. If you already carry a separate knife, the Micra’s opening scissor design or Rambler’s compact driver set can complement it. If you want one pocket tool to carry more of the repair load, the KS2E adds the saw and extended bits.
