Sony WF-1000XM6 Gets a Pill-Shaped Redesign: 5 Upgrades Worth Your Money in 2026

The biggest news about Sony’s WF-1000XM6 isn’t the new driver or the extra mics. It’s the chip. Sony built a new noise-canceling processor for these earbuds called the QN3e. Sony says the WF-1000XM6 blocks 25% more noise than the WF-1000XM5. Most of that gain happens in the mid-to-high range. Low rumble from planes and car engines was already handled well by the XM5’s QN2e chip. The XM6 doesn’t just block deeper. It blocks a wider range of sounds.

The WF-1000XM6 supports LE Audio, the LC3 codec, and Auracast broadcast audio right out of the box. The WF-1000XM5 got the same features later through software updates.
