Design and features

I have the world‘s most ticklish feet. I laugh just hearing about stories of women getting foot massages from their husbands. However, my husband and oldest daughter both have struggles with their feet. This massager has been heaven sent. After a long day of going up and down ladders my husband would normally be in massive amounts of foot pain and fatigue. He decided to use the massager for his feet and almost instantly noticed the amount of pain was significantly lower. My oldest daughter has an accessory navicular, which is a fancy term for an extra bone in her foot, and wears a wrap or brace most of the time, but felt that after a massage she could almost walk normally without the discomfort that she usually feels.

The unit itself is quite simple really. It comes pre-assembled and ready to go. All you need to do is plug in the power cord and push the on button. There are four levels of intensity, and each section has settings that can be changed individually for the optimal massage. You can also choose to have heat. As a bonus, when you are finished using this as a massager, just close it up and it becomes a nice ottoman or foot rest, with the ability to be heated.

The shiatsu feature is only in the feet portion, not your calves. There are multiple pressure points that you can feel as the shiatsu massages your feet. The heel and arch of your foot are probably the most notable. It doesn’t feel like one roller that goes back and forth either. It feels like a bunch of little fingers, little rollers, with a bigger roller that works your arches.

After watching everyone else take a turn, I decided to give it a go. The first time I put my feet in I lasted about 10 seconds before I was laughing too hard to keep going. However, I forced myself to try again and again with increased pressure, which felt less ticklish, and more relaxing. I really enjoy the pressure pillows on the calf area. The way it squeezes and releases on my calf muscles, and then adds the vibration on top of that. Yeah, it was my favorite part.

After three days of camping, my father-in-law stopped by and tried out the massager. He said it was the best his feet had felt in at least three days. Now, I know that’s not saying a lot because camping is not gentle on your feet, but he was very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the 15 minute massage. After 15 minutes the massager auto turns off, but doesn’t need a cool down time or anything if you wanted to turn it back on, or just turn on a specific section.

There is a part on the bottom that looks like a handle, but is actually a prop to tilt the whole unit back into a reclined position. The unit doesn’t actually have a handle, or latch, or anything to keep it closed or make it easier to transport places. This massager isn’t very heavy, but can be a little awkward to carry. There is a little loop on the top to help open the ottoman, and it would’ve been an easy win to just place a button, or latch, to be able to hook onto to help keep everything closed up.

The rim of the foot insert is not as soft as I would like. I sometimes get my feel in there and almost feel like a new pair of shoes that is rubbing against the top of your heel. Most of the time, my feet aren’t that far back into the machine, but there are times that it just hits wrong. The foot pocket is removable and washable. Just a little zipper and some velcro. I am extremely grateful that I don’t have to think about all the sweaty feet germs that would accumulate.

Final thoughts

As bulky and awkward as these types of things can be, the COMFIER 2-in-1 foot and leg massager has more good things than bad. It gets used almost daily at my house, and when it’s not in use, it serves as a nice foot rest, or side table. Even with my ticklish feet, I can enjoy a foot massage here and there. I can’t wait for the weather to turn cold again and utilize the heat settings more.

• Bulky and awkward to move mostly because it doesn’t always stay closed
• When closing the massager, the side pillows need to be fully deflated to close all the way, or they get squished in the wrong position.
