REVIEW – If you’ve read my other reviews, you know that we vacuum regularly. I’ve tested any number of robot vacuums/mops with varying results. Those work great on floors but other things, like mattresses, need cleaning too. We’ve taken our Dyson stick vacuum and cleaned our mattresses but when the opportunity to test a dedicated mattress vacuum came up, I thought it would be worth a shot. Today, we’re looking at the Jimmy BX7 Pro Max. Let’s dig in and see if this “mite” be a better solution for cleaning your mattresses.

Design and features
The dust cup is the prime visual feature of the BX7 Pro Max. It sits right on top of the unit, ready to show you everything the vacuum picks up.
The power button turns the unit on and off.
The Mode button switches the unit through its operating modes.
The default mode is vacuuming with UV light and roller tapping. You can disable the roller tapping and/or UV sterilization.
The Blue LED bar changes to red, indicating the level of dust currently being picked up by the vacuum.
To remove the dust cup, press the button on the cup.
This lets you lift the cup upward and remove it.
A small twist unlocks the top of the cup.
The MIF filter sits on top of the dust cup.
The filter can be removed easily by lifting it upward.
Everything comes out of the dust cup for cleaning.
Under the vacuum, we see the tapping roller, heating bar, hot air vent, UV window, and wheels. Those wheels are important. If they are not pressed into the fabric, the UV light is disabled to protect your eyes.
The yellow tabs on the roller cage move to unlock the cage.
After removing the cage, you can pull the roller out for cleaning.
The design of the roller is patented by Jimmy. The soft rubber strips alternating with soft hair strips on the composite brush roll help to loosen mites from deep in the mattress. The roller operates with an independent motor so that the suction motor runs at 100% power continuously.
Assembly, Installation, Setup

Performance
It was laundry day. We pulled the sheets off the bed and went at it with the BX7 Pro Max.
It is hard to tell from the video but the vacuum is quite loud. It isn’t pain-inducing loud or anything like that, but it isn’t quiet.
We have a California King bed, so it took a little while to go over the entire mattress. We have a cover on it so that’s what I vacuumed. The wide opening of the vacuum helped to minimize that process. As you can see in the video, the LED bar kept changing to red as I encountered more dust. When that happened, I kept going over that specific area until the bar remained blue. After I went over the entire bed, I pulled off the mattress cover. The mattress looked nice, fresh, and clean. I decided to vacuum the mattress directly anyway. Much to my surprise, the blue status bar started turning red. A lot. I vacuumed the entire mattress too. This underscored one of the marketing blurbs from Jimmy. Typical vacuums only clean visible dirt. Jimmy’s patented design vibrates unseen debris so the mattress can be safely sanitized with heat and ultraviolet light, and the dust, mites, mite excrement, hair, and other icky stuff can be extracted into the dust cup. When you’re done, you’re left with a deeply cleaned mattress that can help reduce skin allergies, nasal allergies, and asthma.
This is what the dust cup looked like.
I dumped it out onto a paper towel.
OK, let’s just say it – eww…
One gram of bed dust can contain between 1,000 and 10,000 dust mites plus all their excrement (a fancy word for poop). Let’s say it again – eww…
The heat from the vacuum was evident. I could feel the warmth of the mattress after I went over each area. I don’t have any way to prove that the heat and UV-C light actually killed dust mites, but science says it does, so I will side with science on that one.
After cleaning the entire mattress, I completely disassembled the dust cup and all its components.
I like how easily everything comes apart for cleaning. I rinsed everything out and let it dry before reassembling the vacuum.
After completely cleaning the mattress, I broke out the trusty Dyson and went over the mattress again. It did pick up a little extra dust, but very little. Plus, I don’t care how well you vacuum something, you can always pick up more with another vacuuming session. The fact that a powerful Dyson could only grab a few specs of dust after I cleaned the mattress with the Jimmy BX7 was a pretty strong demonstration of the excellent cleaning performance of the Jimmy BX7.
After that successful run, we stripped the bed in our guest room and vacuumed that mattress. We netted similar results with a bunch of bed dust and all the icky stuff sucked up into the dust cup. Nice!
Final thoughts
Dust and dust mites are a part of life. Lots of folks live with them and don’t notice. But for many, dust and dust mites are a big issue, causing all sorts of skin and respiratory issues. Cleaning your mattresses and upholstery regularly with the Jimmy BX7 Pro Max can significantly reduce exposure to all that gook and help you breathe a little easier. The BX7 Pro Max performed well, sucked up lots of dust, and left the mattresses clean and ready for dust-free sleep. It is much easier to use on the mattresses than our stick Dyson and is now part of our regular cleaning toolset.
