REVIEW – At the beginning of this summer, I decided to convert half of my garage into a gym, so I could move the gym equipment out of its current space in my basement in order to make space to build my new home office/studio. As I was designing the space, I decided to install a sink outside of the gym room, so that water for washing up would be conveniently available. As I was completing my planning, I received the offer to test and review this Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater – 120V. Now I can add hot water to the convenience.

Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater – 120V is a simple design. On the back, is a slot to mount the included wall hanger. On the front, there is the power LED and the thermostat. On top are the hot water outlet, cold water inlet, and the pressure release outlet. There is a power cord in the back to connect to 120 volts.

Installation

The Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater is easy to install. I decided to mount it on the wall since I installed it in my garage, and during really heavy rains or snow, there can be some water that gets onto the garage floor. I mounted my sink and the water heater to the wall and used PEX-A and push-to-connect couplings to link everything together. Here are some snapshots of my process:

Performance

So far the Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater has performed well. It was easy to install, and after a few minutes of running water through it, the water was warm, and then shortly after it was warmer and warmer until hot. I would not describe it as hot scalding water where steam is visible, but hot enough for any practical use that I would have.
