REVIEW – Vosteed is at it again. Recently I reviewed the Vosteed Acorn pocketknife and was very impressed by its performance and the overall package, so when Vosteed came out with the Mini Acorn pocketknife I had to give it a try and compare against its older sibling.

Design and features
This is a compact, little EDC pocket knife that feels larger than it actually is. I believe that’s due partially to the curve of the blade and its wide body. It fits nicely in hand and the G10 handle on this model seems a bit more refined than the last one I reviewed. The G10 even has what appears to be a grain to it, which is probably just due to the layering of the materials, but it looks very nice.
Compared to the full-size Vosteed Acorn, it appears to be a little more refined and cleaner build. I believe that’s the G10 (garolite) material compared to the micarta. The mini looks sleek and clean in comparison.
Performance
Out of the box this is a very sharp blade. All knives are due their fair share of caution because even a dull knife can hurt you badly, but I especially recommend caution with a new knife that still has its factory edge and may still be a bit unfamiliar in your hand. No accidents of note, just a word of caution.
The edge on this blade made short work of a sticky note with several clean cuts. I later used it to break down some large cardboard boxes so they would fit in the recycle bin and it performed admirably there as well. On a small blade like this you have less room to put pressure on with, but it wasn’t an issue with this design.
Cutting some paracord was very easy as well and it cleanly cut through all strands with no stringing.
What I like about the Vosteed Mini Acorn knife
- Great size. It fits well in my pocket but still can achieve all the things I need it to do
- Very well built. Everything is centered well, the tension on the lock is just right, and the motion of the blade is smooth and not too loose or tight.
- I love the design and color coordination between the green of the G10 and the brass and steel fittings
What needs to be improved?
- Nothing. It’s a great little pocket knife
Final thoughts
I highly recommend this little knife. There are restrictions on the size of pocketknife that is allowed where I work and the mini Acorn fits the bill perfectly. The design and details of this knife are great and it just looks cool. There are other color combos in their catalog as well if green isn’t your thing.
