CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Today I have a batch of EDC gear crowdfunding campaigns to share with you that I think are worth checking out. Let’s get into it!

The MiCoin

What is it?

The MiCoin is a coin-sized flashlight that’s made of grade 5 titanium and has an IPX-8 waterproof rating.

Why do I like it?

I like the MiCoin because it’s only the size of a coin. That means it’s not bulky and can easily be attached to a keychain. It might be little, but this flashlight is bright at a maximum of 300 lumens, has a 32-meter beam throw, and has 5 lighting modes. It charges in 35 – 60 minutes and can run up to 4.5 hours, depending on the mode. It even has two tritium slots. What’s not to like about this little guy?

The MiCoin campaign ends on 07/08/24, and they have already met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a MiCoin starting at $57. After the campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in October 2024. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

TiSpanner 2.0

tispanner2

What is it?

The TiSpanner 2.0 is a miniature CNC-machined Titanium multitool that includes a Tungsten attack head (for package opening or window breaking), diamond-coated nail puller/emergency blade sharpener, caliper, nail file, and of course… a bottle opener.

Why do I like it?

I like the TiSpanner 2.0 because I’m a sucker for miniature tools. I’m not alone because this is the 2nd version of the original TiSpanner campaign, which raised over $211,000. This new version uses magnets to keep the jaws closed when you hang it from a keychain, and the tool now has a stronger frame design. I am not really sure how useful this tool is with day-to-day tasks, but EDC collectors might like it just for novelty sake.

The TiSpanner 2.0 campaign ends on 07/04/24 and they have surpassed their funding goal of $5,115. You can pre-order a TiSpanner 2.0 starting at $43. After the TiSpanner 2.0 campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in July 2024. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

K-Smart 3.0

ksmart3

What is it?

The K-Smart 3.0 is a 12-in-1 Titanium quick release keychain multi-tool with the following features:

Why do I like it?

I like the K-Smart 3.0 because it’s the third version of an already successful tool. I like it when companies take successful products and continue to make them even better. This time around, the K-Smart has an updated quick-release mechanism and window breaker. It also has a ruler (imperial and metric), pry bar, nail puller, hex wrench, magnetic bit driver, bottle opener, tritium slot, box opener, and fire starter.

The K-Smart 3.0 campaign ends on 07/01/24 and they easily passed their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a K-Smart 3.0 starting at $49. After the K-Smart 3.0 campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in October 2024. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

AcePick

acepick

What is it?

The AcePick is a quick release titanium toothpick multi-tool.

Why do I like it?

I like the AcePick because it’s the most overbuilt toothpick in the world. It’s also a scary looking toothpick. It looks more like a tool an alien would use to give you a lobotomy. The funny thing is that my favorite feature is the little bitty blade under the quick release cap. I can see using that to open boxes. A lot of boxes.

The AcePick campaign ends on 06/17/24, and they have successfully met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order an AcePick starting at $35. After the campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in August 2024. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Xbar

What is it?

The Xbar is a titanium pry bar with a unique feature.

Why do I like it?

I like the Xbar because it has a feature I’ve never seen in a pry bar before. Built into the top of the Xbar is a tiny flipper knife with an M390 blade. M390 is a premium blade material, and according to the folks who make the Xbar, it’s the smallest M390 knife at only .55 inches long. The Xbar can also be used as an 8 or 10mm wrench. There are 3 different versions, and one has a bottle opener because why not 🙂

Tiflex

tiflex

What is it?

Tiflex is a mini Titanium flipper pocket knife you can carry on your keychain.

Why do I like it?

I like the Tiflex because I am fond of small pocket and utility knives, and I especially appreciate knives with replaceable blades. The TiFlex has this feature and you can open it with one hand! It’s compatible with #12, #10, #11, #11a, #15, #15c, and #23 scalpel blades, so you have a variety of blade types to choose from.
