CROWDFUNDING NEWS – When it comes to knives, the ones I use more than all others are utility knives. That’s because I receive a lot of packages, and utility knives are the easiest type of knife to use to open and break down boxes for recycling. When I saw the Phantom 2.0 Titanium Folding Utility Knife, which is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, I was intrigued by its interesting design, which is unlike any utility knife that I’ve ever seen or used.
What is it?
The Phantom 2.0 is a folding utility knife made of titanium that looks more like a futuristic pocket knife than a traditional utility knife. It’s from the San Francisco-based company EDC Monster, which has four other successful crowdfunding campaigns, including the 12-in-1 multi-tool pry bar that we reviewed last year.
Why do I like it?
I like the Phantom 2.0 utility knife because you can open the blade three different ways. It’s a flipper (my favorite way to open a blade), but not just any type of flipper. It has a front and back flipper. It’s hard to describe, so you have to watch the video below to see it in action. You can also open it with the thumb stud. It also appears that replacing blades is very easy to do.
Where can I find more info?
The Phantom campaign ends on 02/15/24, and they have already surpassed their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a Phantom 2.0 utility knife starting at $129. After the Phantom campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2024. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
