… but all the bowls and lids nest inside each other for convenient storage in a footprint that’s roughly 11.5″ by 11.5″ by 6.5″ tall. It’s lovely if you’re in a small kitchen/cooking area where space is at a premium.

Performance

When it comes to food prep, I love the LUXEAR 14-Piece Mixing Bowls for storage and ingredient organization. The variety of sizes is great for all sorts of applications, like parsing out nuts for baking as I have done here.

I used one of larger bowls to store a ham bone and trimmings for soup after carving up the ham for one of our holiday affairs. The bowl seals are nice and tight, and held up just fine for 4-5 days in the fridge.

We also put the big bowl to use for a family gathering, whipping up a salad for 10 people and putting the built-in tongs to use.

The thick plastic bowls have a little flexibility, but still feel substantial enough that you can kick them around a bit, Here I am chopping onions and storing them for a future recipe. I found that the bowls don’t retain any funky smells after hand washing and/or dishwaser cleaning.

This was a recent prep session for making frittata, with an assortment of vegetables getting stored in the bowl. I also whisked up some eggs for that dish (second pic below) with a plastic whisk and saw no issues with scratches or residue after cleaning.

I did, however, see an issue with the dishwasher. This particular bowl got stuck between two plates when it shifted while the dishwasher was running, which has resulted in a permanent oblong shape to the bowl. It will conform to the lid size if you force it, but I was a little dissappointed with the warping. I did not see this in other situations where the bowls had plenty of space in the dishwasher, but I’d probably stick to hand-washing from here on out.

Seals on the lids are nice and tight, so I have no issues to report there. The variety of sizes is great for a range of applications including freezing, but I would probably hold off on using them in the microwave given the dishwasher experience.

The product promotional materials do mention baking quite a bit, but keep in mind that this is for baking preparation, not actual cooking. I feel like the use of metal/silicone tools are fine based on my experience, but I would suggest avoiding metal tools for fear of scratching the bowls.

What I like

  • Flexible range of sizes
  • Durable, thick plastic
  • Built-in salad tongs are a nice plus

What I’d change

  • I don’t know that I trust them for high heat applications

Final thoughts

If you’re looking for a variety of bowls for meal prep and ingredient storage, I would strongly recommend the LUXEAR 14-Piece Mixing Bowl set as a solid starter kit. The range of sizes, durable BPA-free plastic, and relatively low price makes them a winner for a bunch of kitchen applications. I would just be careful about using them in high heat applications given my experience.
