REVIEW – I am a happy dog mom of three wonderful pups of varying sizes and ages ranging from 10 pounds to 60 pounds and from 5 months to 16 years. To say feeding time is chaotic is an understatement. We get spilled water and food and dogs who are worried that another dog will get their food, so they eat so fast that they basically inhale their food. Read on and find out how the PAWAii Magic Bowl held up in our home.

Design and features
The PAWAii Magic Bowl can be purchased as a full set or separate parts. There are multi uses for the various pieces, so it is important to note that you would be able to order an extra bowl if needed for your uses. Next, I’m going to talk about each way you can use and purchase your PAWAii bowls.
Materials and cleaning
Before I get into the multi-uses of the PAWAii Magic Bowl, I think it is important to talk about the materials that are used and most importantly in our house, how easy they are to clean.
PAWAii describes the stainless steel dog bowls as 304 stainless steel, a high-quality stainless steel that won’t rust and other food-grade healthy materials. The slow feeder insert is polypropylene.
The stainless steel bowls are dishwasher safe, which in this family is a big plus! Just remove them from the bases, pop them in the dishwasher and poof they are clean. Now for your slow feeder insert and bases, it is not recommended to wash them in a dishwasher- so you are stuck washing those pieces by hand.
The stainless steel bowls are designed with a curve to keep food in the center and not tucked in the corners. This should also be helpful in cleaning by hand.
Note: both the stainless steel bowls and slow feeder bowl are not microwave-safe.
1. Classic food bowl and water bowl side-by-side combo
This is your basic bowls side by side for water and food. You can purchase this combo with the 2 PAWAii bowls or just a single bowl on Amazon. These bowls are very hard to turn over and feature a base with sturdy rubberized feet to create an anti-slip bond.
2. Slow feeder food bowl and water bowl side-by-side combo
This is your basic bowls side by side for water and food, but swapping the stainless food bowl for the slow feeder bowl. The slow feeder bowl is included if you purchase the full set or it can also be purchased separately on Amazon.
We have 2 medium-sized dogs that eat extremely fast and research has shown that slowing down pets eating can help reduce overeating and prevent harming the pup’s delicate digestion system. The PAWAii slow feeder insert for your pet bowl adopts a maze design, which makes your dog slow down while eating to get all the pieces.
Here is our girl, Maya, showing the slow feeder bowl in action:
You will also notice how tall the PAWAii Magic Bowl is in the video, which brings us to the 3rd way to use your bowls, elevated.
3. Elevated food/water bowl or elevated slow feeder bowl
Using the same sets purchased from option #1 & #2 above, you can create a stacked elevated option for your PAWAii Magic Bowl. You simply place the main dog bowl on top of the base dog bowl, adding an elevated and higher angle for your pooch to enjoy their food and/or water.
4. Stacked bowls (main bowl under the base bowl)
Last, but not least, you can do the opposite of option #3. By placing the base bowl over the main bowl, you have created your 4th option for feeding. This configuration allows you to pour hot water in the base bowl to warm up your wet food from beneath. On that same note, you can also put ice water in the main bowl which could help keep your water cooler are a warm day outside.
We do not use wet dog food to need this configuration, but I love the option of cooling off water in the summer months when my dogs love to be outside sunbathing.I love a product that can be used in multiple ways and the PAWAii Magic Bowl has various ways to use and set up to fit your needs.
Bonus Item
Included in my package was a bonus PAWAii digital ID tag, which you can purchase directly from PAWAii or on Amazon.
This is a digital QR pet ID tag. The tag is made of 100% food-grade silicone and is bite resistant. It is a simple, but useful way to keep your pets marked in case they get out and lost. One side of the tag features the PAWAii logo and the other side contains a unique QR code.
Registration of your tag is super simple and requires no APP or subscription. You simply:
- Scan the QR code
- Create an account
- Fill in the information
- Submit
When someone scans the QR code, they will be directed to a page with your animal’s picture (if you choose to upload one), address, phone number and any other information, such as allergies, that you want to put on the form.
The PAWAii QR Code Pet ID Tag comes in a variety of colors. Seven colors according to this photo on the product page on Amazon. However, at the time of writing this article, the only available colors on both Amazon and PAWAii websites are deep sea blue, bright red and yellow.
What I like
- Multiple feeding options
- Heavy and sturdy anti-slip base
- Unexpected bonus item
What I’d change
- Color options, I do not like the red and would prefer a black to coordinate with my kitchen
- Price – the sale price is acceptable, but I would not pay the full retail of $75.99
Final thoughts
In conclusion, there are a lot of great reasons to love the PAWAii Magic Bowl dog food bowls. Any product that can be used in multiple ways is always more appealing to me. Although the product is versatile, it is important to also note that when you have the bowls in the elevated feeding position, you now only have one bowl, so you would need to order another set of bowls in order to have an elevated water and food bowl. Overall, I do really like the design of the product, but just wished I could get black over the red color on the base bowl and slow feeder. The PAWAii Magic Bowl has already become a staple in our daily dog feeding routine, but I’m holding out for a black version to fully swap all our bowls over.
Price: $75.99 (currently on sale for $56.99 on PAWAii and Amazon) At the time of writing this article, there is a 40% off coupon you can “clip” on Amazon- dropping the price another $22.80)
