Based on a user’s individual impedance profile, Disney Research is developing a system that will allow for Capacitive Fingerprinting. This means that rather than a touchscreen being able to be used by anyone, the touchscreen will be able to differentiate between users based on factors such as bone density, muscle mass, and clothing. Capacitive fingerprinting builds upon the Disney’s Touché system, which uses touch-sensing technology to distinguish between different objects or parts of a body and can add touch functionality to non-traditional surfaces. This sort of technology will be great for applications such as collaboration on large touchscreens or multi player games.
