Half price is half price, and Leatherman rarely plays along. Leatherman has cut the FREE K2X from $89.95 to $44.98 and the FREE K4X from $99.95 to $49.98, with the discount applied at checkout in its own store. Both are knife-first multitools with magnetic one-hand opening, built in Portland and covered for 25 years.
October’s sale pricing never got the K2X this low. Prime Big Deal Days put it at $53.97 on Amazon, and the K4X at $49.98. Amazon still lists the K4X at $49.98, down from $99.95, so the scissors model runs five dollars over the K2X at either store.

Leatherman marks its offer as while supplies last, and the company’s Black Friday promotion is the window it sits in.
A knife first, with seven tools folded behind it
A 3.3-inch combo blade in 420HC stainless steel leads the K2X. Part straight edge and part serration, it cuts clean on smooth stock and saws through rope or strapping without a tool swap. Leatherman shapes it as a modified sheepsfoot, so the tip stays controlled on a board or a bench.
420HC is the steel Leatherman uses across most of its line. It sharpens fast on a basic stone and shrugs off rust, which suits a tool that lives in pockets, tackle boxes and glove compartments. Edge life trails premium steels, though a two-minute touch-up fixes that.

Seven tools sit behind the blade. A pry tool pops paint lids and split rings, and a package opener saves the blade edge from tape and glue. An awl, a bottle opener and three screwdrivers fill out the handle: Phillips, medium flat and extra-small flat.
Closed, the K2X runs 4.5 inches long and weighs 4.9 ounces. A removable pocket clip carries it like a normal folding knife. That is the job it fills, a knife that happens to bring drivers along.

Magnets run the opening
FREE technology swaps nail nicks and stiff springs for a magnetic system. Each tool rides on the outside of the aluminum handle and rolls open with one hand. Every tool locks at the end of its travel, with a click you can feel through work gloves.
Magnets also cut wear inside the handle. Parts glide into place instead of grinding across each other, and Leatherman builds the system for years of daily opening. FREE arrived in 2019 and later moved into the ARC, the company’s flagship pliers tool.
Closing runs one-handed too. A thumb rolls each tool home against the magnets, and the lock lets go without a fingernail digging for a nail nick. On a ladder or under a sink, that skips the put-it-down, open-it, pick-it-up routine entirely.

It sounds like a gimmick until a box shows up while your other hand is full. Then it reads as the whole point.
Five dollars more buys the scissors
Spring-action scissors are the one tool the K4X adds, as a ninth tool over the same base eight. Scissors sound minor until clamshell packaging, zip ties and loose threads show up. In a normal week, they see more use than the awl does.
Weight climbs to 5.5 ounces, and the handle grows a bit thicker, at 0.72 inch against 0.61 inch. Both models close at 4.5 inches and open at 7.8 inches. Side by side, the choice is scissors or a slimmer pocket, and it costs five dollars.

What knife-first gives up
No pliers ride in either handle, and that is the trade at the center of both tools. Gripping, bending and wire work call for a pliers-based multitool instead. Buyers who need pliers daily should put this money toward a full-size Leatherman and skip the knife-first format entirely.
Drivers here are fixed blades of steel, not a bit exchanger, so odd fasteners stay odd. Reach is short, torque is modest, and recessed screws can beat the medium driver. For flat packs, toys and battery doors, the set covers the common work.
Built in Portland, covered for 25 years
Both tools come out of the Portland, Oregon factory, and both carry a 25-year warranty. Frames are aluminum with a Cerakote finish, in silver on the models in this deal. Fasteners and implements are stainless steel, and the pocket clip is removable.
FREE as a branded line has ended, and remaining stock is what this deal is selling. Once a color or a model sells through, no next production run refills it. Half price on the last of a line is a different offer than half price on a restock.
Pricing under $50 also moves both tools into gift territory for the Black Friday window. A first Leatherman at $44.98 carries the same 25-year warranty as a full-price one. That pairing, a low entry price with long coverage, is rare in this category.
Which one to buy
Buy the K2X if a blade plus drivers covers your day and you want the lighter, thinner carry. Pay the five extra dollars for the K4X if you cut packaging, cord or fabric most days. Either way, under $50 for a Portland-built Leatherman with a 25-year warranty needs no sales pitch.

At $89.95, the K2X was easy to admire and harder to justify. At $44.98, the math does the talking.
