The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max puts ARRI’s video tools into a phone with two 200MP rear cameras. That combination gives mobile filmmakers something more useful than another resolution bump: control over how footage is recorded, previewed and graded.
HONOR launched the phone in China on September 28, with prices starting at RMB 6,499. Its ARRI CINEMA mode records up to 4K at 60fps using LogC3, 10-bit color and ARRI Wide Gamut 3. For creators who edit their footage, that’s the part worth understanding.

What ARRI brings to the camera

LogC3 records a flatter-looking image designed for color grading. It gives you room to shape the finished picture in an editor instead of committing to a punchy look while shooting. The Magic9 Pro Max also lets you preview ARRI Looks while recording, so you can see a closer version of the intended finish on the phone.
There are 14 preset Looks: two ARRI conversion Looks and 12 stylized options. The broader ARRI Look Library contains 87 creative grades. HONOR’s China product page says the full set requires downloading and importing it into the camera app, and some features require an OTA update.
ARRI CINEMA mode groups shutter speed, ISO, white balance, focus, lens selection and audio settings into one interface. LogC3, 10-bit color and Wide Gamut 3 availability depends on the camera and shooting mode.
HONOR also offers a SmallRig mobile video kit and G200 and G500 teleconverters as separate accessories. The kit adds mounting options and handles for a larger shooting setup. A four-microphone recording system handles audio on the phone itself.
Two 200MP cameras, with different jobs

The main camera pairs a 200MP, 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.57 lens and optical image stabilization. A second 200MP sensor, this time 1/1.4-inch with an f/2.6 lens, handles telephoto shooting. A 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide rounds out the rear cameras.
Sensor size adds context to those pixel counts. The main and telephoto cameras have their own optics and stabilization, giving creators separate tools for wider scenes and tighter framing. HONOR quotes CIPA 8.0 stabilization for both. Maximum still-photo resolution depends on the selected mode.
HONOR’s H1 imaging chip processes noise reduction in the RAW image data. The company claims up to 14 stops of cinematic dynamic range under its lab conditions. That figure describes HONOR’s testing; judging how far the footage can be pushed in a grade will take hands-on shooting.
The front camera uses a 55MP square-format sensor with 1:1 capture, which gives you room to crop for vertical or horizontal output. HONOR’s separate Cinematic LiveVideo feature records three-second moving clips at up to 4K.
A big battery behind the filmmaking tools

The Magic9 Pro Max runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform and MagicOS 11, based on Android 17. Its silicon-carbon battery has an 8,800mAh typical capacity and an 8,600mAh rated capacity.
Charging reaches up to 100W wired with the included HONOR SuperCharge charger. The 80W wireless mode needs a compatible HONOR SuperCharge wireless charger, sold separately.
The 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display has an anti-reflective coating and a claimed peak brightness of 10,000 nits. That peak figure isn’t sustained full-screen brightness. For filming, the useful question is how clearly you can frame a shot and judge exposure outdoors.
China pricing and international availability

The China lineup comes in Moss Green, Shadow Black and Glacier Silver. Configurations start at 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and run through 16GB with 1TB. The announced starting price is RMB 6,499.
HONOR says rollout details for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Southeast Asia and other international markets will follow. It hasn’t announced US pricing or a US release in these launch materials.

The appeal here is a phone built around capture and editing as one process. Creators who already grade their video have a clear reason to follow the Magic9 Pro Max. Regional availability will determine who can put that workflow to use.
