Sony PULSE Elevate wireless speakers: Price, release date, and features

Sony introduced the PULSE Elevate wireless speakers in September 2025, but gamers have had to wait nearly a year to find out when they could actually buy them. That wait is almost over. Preorders open September 1, with the speakers launching November 12, 2026.

For desk gamers, PULSE Elevate is trying to solve a familiar problem. Headsets provide positional audio and a microphone, but wearing one for hours can get tiring. Desktop speakers are more comfortable, but wireless latency can be an issue, while voice chat usually means adding a separate microphone.

PULSE Elevate combines gaming-focused wireless audio, built-in voice chat, and connectivity for PS5, PC, Mac, PlayStation Portal, and Bluetooth devices in a pair of portable desktop speakers.

More than ordinary desktop speakers

Each PULSE Elevate speaker combines a planar magnetic driver with a dedicated woofer. Sony says its planar magnetic drivers deliver lifelike sound across the audible spectrum, while the woofers add richer bass. On PS5, the speakers also support Tempest 3D AudioTech in compatible games.

For gaming, the practical appeal is clearer separation between footsteps, dialogue, environmental effects, music, and other audio cues, with dedicated woofers handling the low end.

There is some hands-on evidence, although that also comes from PlayStation. During a June 2026 demonstration, a PlayStation Blog contributor reported clear positional cues while playing Saros, along with noticeable bass that did not prevent them from identifying incoming threats.

PlayStation Link tackles wireless latency

Bluetooth is convenient, but latency can be a problem for gaming. PULSE Elevate instead uses PlayStation Link, which Sony describes as providing ultra-low-latency, lossless wireless audio on compatible devices including PS5, PC, Mac, and PlayStation Portal. A USB-C PlayStation Link adapter is included.

Bluetooth is available too. More importantly, PlayStation Link and Bluetooth audio can work simultaneously. You could hear game audio through PlayStation Link while receiving music, voice chat, or other audio from a separate Bluetooth device.

That gives PULSE Elevate a practical advantage as an everyday desktop audio system rather than something tied exclusively to a PS5.

The microphone could make a headset unnecessary

Moving from headphones to speakers normally means losing your headset microphone. PULSE Elevate addresses that with a microphone built into the right speaker and AI-enhanced noise rejection designed to identify and remove unwanted background noise.

Sony has demonstrated the feature with music playing through the speakers while someone used the microphone. According to the PlayStation Blog contributor who tried it, their voice remained clear while the music was filtered out.

That shows the feature working under Sony’s demonstration conditions, but it does not establish how well it will handle mechanical keyboards, fans, other people talking, or different room acoustics. Independent testing will matter if voice chat is a major reason you are considering these speakers.

They are designed to leave the desk

Unlike conventional powered desktop speakers, PULSE Elevate has built-in rechargeable batteries and comes with charging docks. You can pick up the speakers and use them with PlayStation Portal through PlayStation Link or with compatible mobile devices over Bluetooth.

The speakers can also be tilted horizontally and vertically to suit your listening position. On PS5 and PC, users can adjust EQ, volume, and microphone settings through system menus, although Sony says the PC options will arrive after launch.

Introduced last year, launching this November

Sony first revealed PULSE Elevate during State of Play on September 24, 2025, initially confirming only that the speakers would arrive in 2026. It launches November 12, 2026, priced at $219.99 in the US, €219.99 in Europe, £199.99 in the UK, and ¥37,980 in Japan. Preorders begin September 1 at 10 a.m. local time, or 10 a.m. ET in the US.

Midnight Black will be available globally through participating retailers and PlayStation Direct where available. The White version has more limited regional availability, so buyers should check local retailers before assuming both colors will be offered in their market.

At $219.99, these are not inexpensive desktop speakers. The value proposition depends on whether planar magnetic drivers, dedicated woofers, PlayStation Link, portability, and built-in voice chat can replace enough of your existing audio setup to justify the price.

Who should buy PULSE Elevate?

PULSE Elevate makes the most sense for PS5 and PC gamers who play at a desk and want to stop wearing a headset without giving up low-latency wireless audio or voice chat. PlayStation Link plus simultaneous Bluetooth also makes them attractive for setups involving several devices.

They are less compelling if you need headphone isolation, share a room with other people, or already own good powered speakers and a dedicated microphone.
