Logitech’s G3 Series Just Made Pro-Level Gaming Gear a Lot More Affordable

Logitech G has spent years putting its fastest sensors and highest polling rates behind premium price tags. Its new G3 Series is an attempt to flip that script. Announced on June 16, the lineup expands with two products built around a single idea: take the specs that used to define the flagship Pro line and sell them for a fraction of the price. The G305 X SUPERLIGHT wireless mouse and the G316 X 98 wired mechanical keyboard are the headliners, and together with the existing G325 wireless headset they round out what Logitech is calling a complete, affordable desktop ecosystem.

G305 X SUPERLIGHT: The People’s Choice Goes on a Diet

The original G305 earned a reputation as the “People’s Choice,” a dependable budget wireless mouse with a shape people genuinely liked. The new G305 X SUPERLIGHT keeps that iconic shape but re-engineers it down to roughly 59 grams, a meaningful drop that puts it in genuine lightweight territory. It also swaps in an updated HERO sensor capable of 44,000 DPI, the same headline figure Logitech quotes on its flagship Pro mouse.

Speed is the other upgrade. Out of the box the G305 X connects over LIGHTSPEED wireless, and it can also switch between Bluetooth and a wired connection depending on the situation. Pair it with the optional PRO LIGHTSPEED Receiver and it unlocks up to 8 kHz performance, the kind of polling rate that was exclusive to far pricier hardware until recently. Battery life is rated at more than 130 hours, and the mouse now charges over USB-C, with Logitech claiming a two-minute top-up is good for around 3.5 hours of play.

There is a sustainability angle too. Logitech says the G305 X is built with at least 51 percent recycled plastic and uses exposed screws to support a “Right to Repair” approach, making the mouse easier to open and service rather than throw away.

G316 X 98: Custom Keyboard Feel Without the Build

The G316 X 98 is the more ambitious launch. It is Logitech’s bid to capture the “thock” that enthusiasts chase in custom keyboard builds, without asking buyers to source parts and assemble a board themselves. The 98-key layout runs on a wired connection tuned for 8 kHz performance with a 0.125ms response time.

The acoustic story is the centerpiece. A multi-layer, snap-fit gasket design holds the board together without screws and is engineered to produce the deeper, softer sound that custom builders prize. For tinkerers, the switches are hot-swappable and the board accepts compatible cross-hatch stem keycaps, so the typing feel and look can be changed without soldering.

Logitech also leaned into onboard controls. An interactive dot-matrix LED display paired with a control dial lets you adjust report rate and brightness or handle music and volume directly from the keyboard. The LIGHTSYNC RGB light bar gives visual feedback as you turn the dial, and personalization runs deep with 30 customizable light bar zones, per-key RGB, and macros and key assignments handled in Logitech’s G HUB software.

The Bottom Line

The pitch here is value, and on paper it holds up. A 59-gram wireless mouse with a 44K sensor and optional 8 kHz polling at $79.99 is aggressive, and a hot-swappable, gasket-mounted keyboard with onboard controls at $119.99 undercuts most of the boutique-feel competition. The real test will come when reviewers get extended time with both, but as a statement of intent, the G3 Series makes a strong case that pro-grade specs no longer have to mean flagship prices.
