REVIEW – Now that I am 100% moved into my new home office/studio, I need to make sure that all of my workflow processes are streamlined and that the large amount of video content that I am now generating is triaged in specific places relevant to their use case. I need multiple NAS devices, each with a specific purpose. Since I need multiple, having some large-capacity storage in a small form factor would be perfect. Enter the UGREEN NASync DXP2800.

The UGREEN NASync DXP2800 features a sleek design housed in a compact aluminum shell. It measures approximately 9.1 × 4.3 × 7.0 inches. The device includes two front-access 3.5-inch SATA drive bays with tool-free trays, dual M.2 NVMe slots (for SSD caching or storage expansion), multiple high-speed USB-A and USB-C ports, a 2.5Gb LAN port, and a 4K HDMI output.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The assembly process for adding storage to the UGREEN NASync DXP2800 is straightforward and user-friendly. The NAS uses a tool-free tray system for its two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives. You simply press the latch to open the drive bay, insert the hard drive into the tray, aligning the mounting pins or screw holes, then slide the tray with the drive back into the bay until it clicks securely into place. To install the M.2 SSDs, carefully insert the M.2 drive at an angle, then press it down to lock and close the hatch. After the drives are installed, connect power and Ethernet, then power on the NAS to proceed with software setup.
(Please note that I have since removed the blue cellophane from the thermal pads on the M.2 memory sticks)

Performance
The UGREEN NASync DXP2800 is well built, much like the other models that I have tested. While it is only a two-bay NAS, it is powerful, and IMO is a good fit for any type of user, and the decision would be based on the use case. The network connectivity is fast, and the companion software makes it versatile and flexible.
This NAS is powered by a 12th Gen Intel N100 CPU and includes 8GB DDR5 RAM that is expandable to 16GB. The basic power that it comes with is enough to support fast and large file transfers, media streaming, and any virtualization requirements. I love the additional features like the dual M.2 NVMe slots for SSD caching, and the multiple USB ports that include a 10Gbps USB-C port. There is also a 4K HDMI port that, to be honest, I never use. Although the other storage devices and my switches are 10G bandwidth, the 2.5GbE LAN port on the DXP2800 is more than adequate for my use case, which is storing large video files that I record on my BlackMagicDesign HD Studio Plus recorder.
Just like my other UGreen storage devices, this NAS uses UGREEN’s web-based operating system, UGOS Pro, and it is full-featured and just as good, if not better. It easily allows you to manage photos, videos, and music, automate mobile backups, set up VMs, and access a unified web portal for device control. There is also Docker integration that allows you to run services like Plex. UGreen also updates the OS frequently.
The 2.5Gb network connection ensures reliable and efficient file transfers and media streaming, with no interruptions when transferring files of over 100GB each. Mobile app connectivity is seamless.
Overall, IMHO, the UGREEN NASync DXP2800 is one of the most capable and user-friendly NAS solutions for home and small business use. It combines great build quality, fast network performance, and a tool-free setup. It is reliable, and its storage expansion capability up to 76TB is fantastic. Its operation is also silent, so it even works in my studio without impacting the open mics and recordings.
