REVIEW – My son’s headphones were already on the brink, and with the start of school coming in fast, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to review the Kiwi Ears Aventus headphones. He needs them for academic purposes, but he was most excited to try them for PC and Xbox gaming, as well as watching YouTube.

Setup
These headphones came fully charged and ready to go!
You can easily adjust the headband to comfortably fit your noggin.
Foam inserts let you make personal adjustments in tuning.
And the headphones are comfortably cushioned and stamped with “L” and “R.”
They’re also easy to spin into place for compact storage in the included carrying case. The case is a nice bonus, with a hard shell cover and interior pockets for the charging and aux cord(s); plus, they have a bungee cord and carabiner on the outside to clip to your backpack or luggage.
Controls
All of the headphone controls are on the ear muffs.
- Volume + both increase the volume with a quick press or let you skip to the next song if you hold it down.
- Volume – reduces the volume with a quick press or lets you go to the previous song.
- The MFB button will play/pause a song (quick press) or turn the headphone power off (hold 3 seconds). If you get a call, MFB will answer or end the call (quick press), reject an incoming call (hold 1.5 seconds), or enable/disable SIRI (quick double press).
- ANC lets you turn on the noise cancelling (quick press), cycle through music/normal mode (quick double press) or turn the ANC off (hold 3 seconds).
The RGB button lets you turn the lights on and off and cycle through the different effects. The lights are a fun little bonus!
Performance
The sound quality is great. We tested this gaming, watching movies, as well as audio and video calls — and even some school work.
The Bluetooth connection was easy and worked well.
Our only hiccup was with the aux connection. We were excited about the option to connect with a cord, so we could use it for the Xbox and Nintendo Switch. And purely as earphones, that was okay. However, the functionality for the microphone disappeared completely when plugged in with the included aux cord — it didn’t matter if it was plugged into a PC or gaming system — the mic didn’t work, only the audio.
One really neat feature is the ability to connect to more than one device at a time. On its surface, this didn’t seem like a feature we’d really use… however, my son was gaming and was able to pick up a call from me, chat, hang up and continue playing his game. I call that a win! I’m sure that’s only one scenario of many, but just the ability to pick up calls while staying connected to another device is a very nice feature to have.
The battery life is also very impressive. It ranges from 18 hours with the ANC and RGB on, to 45 with the ANC on, and an incredible 82 hours with the ANC/RGB off.
Final thoughts
With good sound quality, amazing battery life and great Bluetooth connection, these are a good find! However, if you plan to use these with a corded connection and want the mic, they aren’t a good choice.
