REVIEW – My family and I love to camp, but we don’t limit our camping to just the warm months. Having a nice blanket that you can use outside by the campfire is a necessity for “shoulder season” camping. While you can theoretically use any blanket for this, normal household blankets pose some challenges for outdoor use. They get dirty easily, can be difficult to wash, and leaves and other debris can easily stick like velcro to them! The Teton Acadia Camp Blanket solves these problems, and looks really cool in the process.

Design and features
The most unique aspect of the blanket is its materials, which really enable it to be used outdoors, making it a bit more rugged and durable than a normal household blanket. The fully synthetic design creates a blanket that does not absorb much water in the unfortunate circumstance that it gets wet, does not easily get dirty, and when it does, is easily washable. It’s also very light weight, again thanks to the synthetic materials.
The included stuff sack makes storage and transport easy, but don’t waste time trying to roll it and squeeze it in the sack – just stuff it. It fits, eventually,
There are also stake out points on the corners, which allow you to stake the blanket out for picnics, concerts, or sunbathing! I would not trust the points for tying out, if you thought about using the blanket as a tarp – they don’t seem that robust.
The blanket comes in a few color choices, and all are attractive. It also has longitude and latitude coordinates on it, that put you in Acadia National Park, the namesake of the blanket.
Performance
I’ve used the Mammoth Double version of the blanket on a few trips now, and I’ve been impressed. It’s light, durable, and seemingly very difficult to get dirty. When my muddy dog decided to use the blanket as a bed, I just had to let the mud dry and then shake the blanket out, and it was almost completely clean! I washed it when we got home, and it came out of the washer almost dry after the spin cycle, a testament to the synthetic materials that absorb little water.
Perhaps my favorite feature is that nothing seems to stick to the blanket. Typically when in the woods, any woven material will pick up leaves like velcro. The ripstop poly shell makes the Teton Acadia almost impermeable to leaves. On a recent early spring trip, I laid the blanket out on the ground, right on top of a ton of weathered leaves. When we were ready to pack up, a quick shake and the blanket was completely leaf free and ready to stuff in the sack.
Final thoughts
A blanket for camping can really improve the experience, from wrapping up in the shoulder seasons to picnics and sunbathing in the summer. And this would make a great beach blanket, too! Light weight, packability, washability, and cool colors come together in a unique outdoor-oriented blanket that will be right at home in our outdoor or camping kit.
