REVIEW – I spend quite a few hours most days in an office chair, which can really get old with even a decent chair to sit in. I’ve started looking at different options because while a standing desk is nice occasionally, I find it’s nice for a break but I still need to go back to a chair after a while. The Flexispot OC4-SD came up for review and has the option of an extendable foot rest that I thought would be interesting to try out. Read on to see how it holds up in testing.

Design and features
Overall, the Flexispot OC1-SEM looks like a pretty standard desk chair. Casters to roll around on, nylon mesh for the seat, back, and head rest. The nylon mesh is a bit thin for my liking, but it does breathe well and has held up well so far. Time will tell in that regard.
The one addition that I have not seen in other office chairs is an extendable foot rest. It slides out on a two rails under the seat and folds out.
Assembly
Assembly of the Flexispot OC1-SEM chair was very easy. The most difficult part was finding the user manual, funny enough. Initially I could not find it at all, but after pulling everything out and looking twice, I found it hiding inside the seat between things. Picture below for reference on where I found it.
The base of the chair where the casters attach has a very interesting hinge. This is a very sturdy base, and I think it should hold up to a lot of abuse. This part of the assembly took the most work, but it wasn’t much. You just have to pull up and lock each arm into place, and then insert a caster on the end.
The gas lift is then inserted onto the base and the chair is inserted on top of that. That’s about it for installation except for attaching the head rest. The head rest attaches with two screws and an Allen wrench, both included. There is a cover that just pops on afterwards and you’re done.
Performance
One of the best parts of this chair is that it hinges forward and stores under a desk or table. There are two buttons on each side that you press and push forward to store.
The headrest is also adjustable and can be moved to wherever is most comfortable and to also store even smaller.
Overall, it fits well at desks and tables and is comfortable to sit in.
There is also a lumbar support that has a nice feel and hits just about right for me.
Final thoughts
The setup and assembly of this chair was super easy. The overall construction is very durable. While I don’t anticipate using the foot rest a lot, it is nice to have available when you do need it. Overall, I recommend the chair and think it’s a nice solution, especially if you need to store it under a desk or table further out of the way.
