NEWS – Here at The-Gadgeteer, we have reviewed a bunch of robot vacuums and vacuum/mops from Ecovacs and they have proven to be quality cleaning workhorses. Ecovacs just announced their new flagship X8 PRO OMNI robotic vacuum and mop. Why? What could possibly be better? As it turns out, a lot!
The X8 keeps the newer and smaller form factor, similar to the DEEBOT N30 OMNI I recently tested.
Of course, suction is increased up to a whopping 18,000Pa. Hot water mopping, mop washing, and heated drying are all there. The fabulous Zero Tangle 2.0 that eliminates tangled hair is there. The biggest change comes in the form of a mop. Gone are the rotating mopping plates. In their place is a new roller mop, but that’s not all. The roller mop extends out from the body resulting in edge-to-edge mopping. Wow!
The sweeper brush is also articulated, giving the promise of true edge-to-edge vacuuming and mopping from a circular robot.
There are other improvements as well. The mapping system has been upgraded to AIVI 3D 3.0, promising more accurate mapping and cleaning performance. The formerly just-OK Yiko voice control has been updated to YIKO-GPT, promising better functionality and command ability.
