REVIEW – The X-Tech Ultimate is the latest product from X-Chair. You may recognize X-Tech from their television advertisements. These are premium office chairs that come with a price tag to match. I have always been curious about how comfortable a high-end chair could be, so I decided to review the X-Chair X-Tech Ultimate Executive Chair. Does it live up to the hype and is it worth the money? Read on for my thoughts.

Design and features
The X-Tech Ultimate features a sleek, modern, minimalist design and many customizable comfort features. It’s available in a wide variety of colors. The color I chose is called Quicksilver.
The X-Tech Ultimate comes equipped with FS wheels that resemble inline skate wheels. They allow the chair to glide effortlessly and comfortably across any surface.
The seat is large, measuring 22-inches. The premium seat foam includes Cooling Gel Memory Foam, which contours to your body, providing the ultimate support and cushion while keeping you cool. You can also adjust the seat depth.
The X-Tech Ultimate comes standard with 4D Armrests. I upgraded to the FS 360º Rotational Armrests. The armrests and arm Pads move with you at 360 degrees, allowing you to rest your arms any way you choose. The Arm Pads are smooth and soft. The beveled edges provide a comfortable platform for elbows and arms. The 360º arm pad also rotates, slides, and moves in any direction, allowing you to rest your arms in any fashion. The armrests allow for a 45-degree angle or parallel to the chair locking positions and can be adjusted up and down.
The height-adjustable backrest independently adjusts up and down. It also features Dynamic Variable Lumbar (DVL) Support. The DVL® support intuitively adjusts to your body every time you move. The independently adjustable backrest lets you raise the DVL® support to fit the curve of your back.
The top of the X-Tech Ultimate features an ergonomic style headrest. It’s designed to support the curve of your neck to reduce strain and tension. Additionally, you can adjust the angle of the headrest and move it up and down.
You can adjust the chair height and seat depth using paddle levers on the left side under the seat cushion.
The tilt tension and tilt lock are located on the right side under the seat cushion. Using the tension knob, you can adjust the amount of resistance you feel when you lean back. Additionally, you can lock the seat when you want to recline back and relax.
The X-Tech Ultimate’s seat cushion, backrest, and headrest are covered in Brisa Vegan Leather. This material is buttery soft and delivers enhanced breathability. The DVL support uses a material X-Chair called Advanced Tensile Recovery (A.T.R.). A.T.R. is a woven multilayered nylon that is both responsive and supportive. It’s also water, spill, and stain-resistant.
Overall, the X-Tech Ultimate has a great design. However, some things are head-scratching for a chair at such a high price. For example, the headrest support and adjustment are made of molded plastic, not metal like the base and backrest support. I would have liked to see a metal support and a thumb screw to make it easier to adjust the headrest itself.
ELEMAX™ Cooling Heat and Massage Unit
The Elemax cooling, heat, and massage unit is a small unit that fits into the chair’s DVL support. The unit can be operated using the rechargeable battery or plugged into the included wall charger.
Additionally, you can charge it with your laptop or device using the included USB cord. Elemax has two massage modes and two speeds to choose from. Cooling uses two small fans to circulate the air around your lumbar. The heating element uses the fast-warming technology of the Elemax to add heat to your lumbar (up to 130ºF). For safety purposes, each mode turns off automatically after 15 minutes.
The unit can also be removed from the DVL support and used while watching TV or cruising down the highway. The Elemax unit is not a standard feature but can be added at an additional cost.
Assembly and performance
Assembling the X-Tech Ultimate is easy and only took me about 20 minutes. X-Tech provides all the hardware and tools necessary for assembly.
Performance-wise, the chair lives up to the hype. It’s incredibly comfortable for long periods, and I love that just about every chair aspect is customizable to the user. I can adjust the seat depth, armrests, backrest, and headrest, which helped me customize the ideal sitting position. The DVL support is incredible, especially if you suffer from lower back pain like I do. The FS 360º Rotational Armrests are probably my favorite feature. Putting them in any position I want is a game changer, especially when typing on my laptop. The FS wheels glide across the floor smoothly and are a definite upgrade over the casters I’ve had on other chairs.
Size-wise, the X-Tech Ultimate’s small footprint is perfect for the room I have it in. But it doesn’t feel small when you sit in it if that makes sense.
The Elemax unit works well. It’s a nice touch if you’re sitting in the chair for long stretches. However, for me, it’s optional.
The X-Tech Ultimate is in my man room slash bedroom, so I’ve spent hours writing my reviews and watching TV sitting in it. It’s the most comfortable chair of its kind that I have ever used, and it’s definitely built to last.

Final thoughts
Simply put, the X-Chair X-Tech Ultimate is a high-end chair at a high-end price. But, considering the build quality and how comfortable it is, the X-Chair X-Tech Ultimate might be the last chair you ever purchase. As to the question of whether it’s worth the money?
