REVIEW – While visiting my brother over the summer, I helped him hang some cabinets. He brought out a laser level and I was impressed by how well it worked. I have a few of the smaller 6 inch “manual” levels as well as a wooden 4 foot level passed down to me from a long time ago. The wooden level has seen its better days and only one side wasn’t nicked. I was excited to try the LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level that came up for review. Was this high tech tool going to make hanging things a lot easier?

Design and features
I live in a rental and I don’t do many “major” home improvements. I’ve used levels for hanging pictures, hanging TV’s, curtain rods, blinds and shelves…nothing crazy. I saw how well my brother’s laser level worked over the summer and thought I’d like to try using something like that. When I received the LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect.
I opened the box only to find a handy carrying case – nice touch! Opening up the case revealed the laser level, two rechargeable batteries, a USB-C charging cable, a target, a pivot bracket, and the user guide all packed neatly. Here are my thoughts on some of the peripherals:
- Batteries: These remind my of DSLR or photography lighting batteries. This kit comes with two. Each has a button to press that will light up the charge level and the USB-C cable plugs directly into the battery, no need for a separate charger. But you will need to supply the charging brick to plug the USB-C cable into. You can use a brick, like something that came with your phone or tablet, or a portable charger to charge on the go.
- Pivot Bracket: this is a handy tool. The LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level attaches to the platform mount from the bottom screw thread. There is a dial that can be turned to lower or raise the platform. The bracket itself can be screwed into a standard tripod, or can be magnetically attached, or hung from a hook or nail.
The LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level has as expected a laser on each axis. On the bottom is the battery compartment along with the aforementioned tripod thread fitting. On the top of the level are the indicator lights and two buttons. One button switch modes (cycles through an horizontal line, a side vertical line, and a front vertical line) and the other switches to a pulse setting (pulse mode extends the range of the laser from 100ft to 328ft). On the only side without a laser is the pendulum lock/unlock switch. The internal pendulum is what performs the auto leveling function. There is an option to put the level in manual mode to lock the laser lines for various alignments.
The laser level is IP54 rated which protects against dust and water, perfect for messy job sites.
What I like about the LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level
- Convenient carrying case
- Extra Battery
- Batteries are directly rechargeable via USB-C and have a charge indicator
What needs to be improved?
- Not a big deal, but it doesn’t not come with an USB-A charging brick
Final thoughts
I can see the LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level tool being used at a commercial job site or when taking on bigger projects. The auto level feature works well and having the option of three axis to level, can be very useful in the right circumstance. For my testing, my son needed a few smaller wall shelves mounted. I think the laser level was overkill for such a simple task. By the time I unpacked the level, inserted the battery, mounted it on the plate and attached it to my tripod, and then have to manipulate the tripod to line up with the area we were working at, we could’ve already mounted one of the shelves using a smaller level.
The LASGOO LG-3D Laser Level is a great tool, just a little much for my small and simple task. I would recommend it for bigger jobs that a smaller manual level would not be good for. I have a friend building a barn….now that would be a great use of this tool!

It cracks me up that the logo on the case is not level. 🙂
