REVIEW – At the beginning of this summer, I decided to convert half of my garage into a gym, so I could move the gym equipment out of its current space in my basement in order to make space to build my new home office/studio. As I was designing the space, I decided to install a sink outside of the gym room, so that water for washing up would be conveniently available. As I was completing my planning, I received the offer to test and review this Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater – 120V. Now I can add hot water to the convenience.

Installation
The Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater is easy to install. I decided to mount it on the wall since I installed it in my garage, and during really heavy rains or snow, there can be some water that gets onto the garage floor. I mounted my sink and the water heater to the wall and used PEX-A and push-to-connect couplings to link everything together. Here are some snapshots of my process:
The Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater can be installed for different needs and in different configurations:
Performance
So far the Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater has performed well. It was easy to install, and after a few minutes of running water through it, the water was warm, and then shortly after it was warmer and warmer until hot. I would not describe it as hot scalding water where steam is visible, but hot enough for any practical use that I would have.
What I like about the Thermomate 6.5 Gallon Electric Point of Use Water Heater
- It feels well-built
- It can be installed on a surface or wall-mounted
- It is easy to install

- It works well
What needs to be improved?
- Nothing really
Final thoughts

Just saw your review, but it’s the sink that caught my eye. Been looking for something exactly like to put in the corner of my Reef Aquarium equipment room. Thanks to name branding and high quality pictures I was able to get the model.
Any opinions/comments on the sink?
Hi! Any sense of the monthly cost of using the unit at some level of frequency? Thank you.
Hi,
The cost would depend on the amount of hot water used and the frequency. I only use my occasionally when I am working in the garage or when in the gym so I cannot provide any relevant info for you. Maybe someone who uses it for a daily supply will chime in.
