Performance

Once again, I was pleasantly surprised by affordable sub-$100 headphones. These headphones sound amazing for the price. They are not audiophile-grade, but the sound is rich and performs well across all frequencies. If I have to give it any minus points, I would say that while the bass is good, it could go a bit lower, and the noise canceling is not the best that I have heard for headphones in this price range.

As I did before, I maintained the previous music selection I used to test. This selection is purely based on my taste and preferences. Once again, I listened to tracks like “All in Love is Fair”, “Distant Lover” and “I Want You” by Michael McDonald. Next, I listened to “Europa” by Gate Barbieri, “Winelight” by Grover Washington Jr., and “Angela (theme from ‘Taxi’) by Bob James. Then as I did before, it was on to some Gregory Isaacs, Beres Hammond, Mariah Carey,  and some of the Flamenco genre with tracks like Govi’s Andalusian Nights.

There is also the added benefit of the Edifier Connex app that allows for sound customization. My best experience was with the  “Heavy Bass” option enabled. Here are some screenshots from the app:

The battery life is fantastic and I have not experienced any connectivity issues. These headphones are comfortable, and there is no fatigue when wearing them for extended listening sessions.

What I like about the Edifier W830NB headphones

  • Lightweight but well-made
  • Very comfortable
  • Long battery life
  • Clear sound
  • Good sound quality across all frequencies
  • Foldable
  • Multi-device connectivity

What needs to be improved?

  • They should come with a case
  • The Noise-canceling could be better

Final thoughts

The Edifier W830NB headphones are extremely comfortable to wear and produce a nice and balanced sound. They now own 1st place in my sub $100 headphones lineup. I am very pleased with the performance, and IMHO they are a great bang for the buck. Well done!!

Hi Julian, I’ve following your Headphone reviews, always on point, but there is always something that bothers me about the headphones (in general): what would be the median life of the leatherette earcups? if you buy something from the likes of Sony, Bose, Poly, Anker, turtlebeach for naming some.. you can find aftermarket earcups and at the end extending the life of your investment (sometimes way up 200 usd) but for the cheap ones (sub 150) is there any chance you could ever find replacements? Thanks.
