REVIEW – Ever since I was lucky enough to test and review my first Hollyland device, I have been impressed by the brand, their product variety, and the quality and functionality of their devices. produce. Performance

I use the Hollyland Pyro H Transmitter and Receiver in my home studio to reduce the number of HDMI cables in my relatively small space, and at my church, for monitoring the video output from the Switcher that we use for the live stream broadcast.

I used the church scenario as the main performance and stress test. I connected the Transmitter to the Program Out of the GoStream switcher. I powered both the Pyro H Transmitter and Receiver using USB power packs. I use USB power packs in my home studio and also when I am mobile. The connection is shown below.

I connected the Hollyland Pyro H Receiver to a 5″ battery-powered touchscreen monitor that I usually use for my DSLR rig and when needed for monitoring. I used a SmallRig x Caleb Pike VB212 mini V Mount Battery that I am also reviewing. Once I powered on the Receiver, it took just a few moments to scan and detect the channel the Transmitter was using, and the video feed was up and running. the Switcher’s output is 1080/60p and the transmitter automatically adjusted to that output. I then walked around the building for a while checking the signal and all areas were good even when out of line-of-sight. While I never need to go beyond between 200ft and 300ft away from the transmitter, the walls of my very old and historic church are “bomb-shelter” thick, so I was impressed by the ability of the Pyro H connection to remain steadfast. the video quality was also pristine. I intend to attach a 1/4-20″ mount to my mobile case to mount the receiver. While I have not yet used the loop-through function for a broadcast, I did test it and it works without issue. Overall this is another great product from Hollyland.

Final thoughts

The Hollyland Pyro H video transceiver and receiver work great and for my use, they work well even when they are not in line-of-sight albeit the distances I use are more like under 200 ft. They have the features that I have come to expect from Hollyland and the build quality is fantastic. Another great product from Hollyland!!

  2. Thank you for another great review Julian!

I see that you are using a Osee’s GoStream video switcher. I was just about to purchase a Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini until I stumbled across the GoStream. I was going to buy a GoStream because it has built-in multiview monitor output.

I purchased the GoStream Duet. It is newer, has a built-in fan, four SDI inputs, an NDI license and PC/Mac control programs. You should review it.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks!!
I ditched all ATEMs for GoStreams. The GoStream you see in the review is one I purchased. I don’t need SDI for my in-home studio so I am fine. OSEE gave me the NDI license for free.
