Assembly, Installation, Setup

The Snapcycle R1 Pro E-Bike arrives partially assembled in a big box. The bike weighs 74 pounds, so it is quite a heavy package. The following photos provide some snapshots from my assembly process:

Performance

As I do with every E-Bike, the first task after assembling the Snapcycle Ri Pro, was to charge the bike overnight. The AC adapter has a built-in LED that lights red while being charged and green when fully charged.

Once the bike was fully charged, I pressed the power button to turn it on, and the built-in display screen turned on and provided all of the necessary information. It is quite visible even in brought sunshine. The photos below show the actual screen and an illustration of the functions.

As usual, the gear controls, throttle, and brake lever are on the right side of the handlebar.

The Display Control Pad, the light controls, and the other brake lever are on the left side of the handlebar.

Smart Life App:

Overall, this Snapcycle R1 Pro E-Bike is an all-around great performer. The ride is smooth and the brakes work well and grip well enough to control gradual slowing or if a quick stop is needed. The shocks work so well that even on some of the rough streets I tested, it was still a nice ride. It is still quite cold in NY, so I have not yet been able to take it on a real off-road journey, but I do not doubt that it will perform well. The rear rack and the front carrier are nice accessories, especially if using the bike for daily commuting. The specs say that this bike can go as far as 60 miles on a charge depending on the rider’s weight and the terrain. I believe it. I love the on/off throttle control and the pedal assist modes. The fact that pedal assist works independently of the throttle is something I really like. This bike can also be converted from Class 2 to Class 3 allowing its top speed to change from 20mph to 28mph. Neat trick!!

The App is a nice touch and great for keeping track of routines and progress. My only complaint is that they “threw” in the cheapest bell I have ever seen as an accessory. It was such a pain to even mount it on the handlebar that I just threw it aside. Otherwise, this bike is a score.

What I like about the Snapcycle R1 Pro E-Bike

  • The seat is well-positioned and is very comfortable
  • The speed and acceleration are good
  • The controls are well-positioned and work well
  • I love the quality of the ride
  • The fat tires are great
  • If you need the Rack and the Carrier they are strong and great accessories
  • Good power, good battery, good load capacity
  • The on/off throttle control

What needs to be improved?

  • While the bike is great, the included bell included is cheaply made. IMHO, the company should either include a robust bell or leave it out completely

Final thoughts

The Snapcycle R1 Pro E-Bike IMHO is a beautiful bike. It is well-made and robust and rides like a dream. All of the controls work well and it is fast. It is simply an enjoyable ride with the obvious health benefits. Very well done!!
