REVIEW – I’ve been an avid VR user for a decade now (starting with the Oculus DK2 and many hours spent in Elite Dangerous flying space trucks full of cargo across the galaxy). I’ve owned and used headsets from Oculus (later acquired by Facebook/Meta), HTC, HP, Sony, and Google, and all of them so far have had strengths and weaknesses. One of the recurring weaknesses is charging and storing the headsets (for the wireless ones): if you hang them lenses-down they collect dust on the lenses, while laying them flat on surfaces takes up a lot of space. ZyberVR’s Quest 3 Sky Tower Charging Dock looked appealing to me because it looks like a great storage+charging solution without taking up lots of extra space, so I agreed to try it out.
What is it?
The ZyberVR Quest 3 Sky Tower Charging Dock is a dock that charges both the Meta Quest 3 VR headset as well as the hand controllers for said headset, simply by placing each item in the dock. A magnetic adapter for the charging port pops into place when the headset is placed in the storage cradle, and the hand controllers get custom rechargeable battery packs and battery covers with metal contact pieces so that they also charge when inserted in the dock. The dock also has an extra USB-C charging cable (which works great for the ZyberVR Neck Power Bank or other portable power banks, or anything else you want to charge via USB).

Design and features
The ZyberVR Quest 3 Sky Tower Charging Dock has a main weighted base with controller charging cradles, LED lighting on the front, a transparent plastic storage headset cradle, and a clip holding the magnetic charging cable in place.
From the side, you can see the resting spot for the headset band. This is adjustable for different band types and sizes.
The controller docking cradles are a snug fit, sometimes I placed the controllers in and walked away, only to realize later they weren’t charging. LED indicators on the front show charging status, you might have to press the controllers in just a bit more for the pins to make contact and charge.
The magnetic charging cable connects to a USB-C magnetic adapter that you insert into the Meta Quest 3 headset. You can leave that adapter in the headset indefinitely, though it does block access to the port (so you can’t use a headset-with-battery-pack like the Meta or ZyberPC Elite Strap with Extended Battery).
On the back of the dock are input and output ports. From left to right, you have a USB-C in, DC-in, and USB-A output. The included AC adapter plugs into the DC-in port here, I like that ZyberVR also includes USB-C input as an option. The USB-A output is nice if you’re using a battery pack with your VR headset, you can charge it from this port next to your headset.
On the bottom of the dock, you can see some regulatory information and rubber feet to prevent slippage.
LED lighting is visible in the front of the dock, with small indicator lights for each controller (the blue dots near either side in the photo above), and an LED light that illuminates the vertical stand. This stand light changes from pink to blue to indicate charging or charged respectively. You can turn off the lighting by tapping the Zyber logo in the front/center.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
Installation was as simple as connecting a couple of plastic parts together and plugging in cables. The included controller batteries and covers install just like other batteries and the original controller covers.
What I like about the ZyberVR Quest 3 Sky Tower Charging Dock
- Convenient storage and charging solution
- Magnetic cable reliably connected and charged for me every time
- Design allows for other headband styles to be used, not just stock or ZyberVR ones
- Extra charging USB-A port in the back is good for ZyberVR’s neck battery pack or other devices
What needs to be improved?
- I can’t use the Meta battery strap or even ZyberVR’s battery strap: the magnetic charging setup requires access to the front charging USB-C port to be open with the magnetic adapter installed
- Sometimes controllers felt like they were fully pressed into the dock but the charging light wasn’t on, required a bit more force than I expected.
- Can’t use sleeves on the controllers, they have to be naked to fit into the charging cradle
Final thoughts
I like the convenience offered by the ZyberVR’s Quest 3 Sky Tower Charging Dock, it’s much easier to place the headset and controllers into the dock after each VR session as opposed to hanging them or leaving them on surfaces with long USB plugs snaking to them. I do wish there was an option to install the USB-C magnetic adapter on my Meta Elite battery strap (which would mean the charging needs to happen on the back/bottom of the headset strap), rather than only working with the front USB-C port. I also really like the controller grips that I use (soft silicone covers that strap around my hands), which I had to remove to use the cradle-recharging option. I think most people would love this setup though, as it provides a great storage solution while also easily charging everything. If you grab ZyberVR’s Elite strap and neck battery pack (which I’m concurrently reviewing), it makes for a nice upgrade to a stock Meta Quest 3 VR experience.
