Design and features
Setup
Setting up the YABER K2s projector is very easy. Once you plug in the power, select your language, and set up the wifi connection, you’re all set to go. (The TV dongle is pre-installed.)
If you’re using an iPhone, you can easily screen share. That’s it!
However, you can also connect with the USB ports, HDMI or through Bluetooth.
The YABER K2s projector automatically focuses with just a click of a button on the projector remote. Really, does it get any easier than that?
We got this with the hopes of it being easily portable, and it is! It’s compact, about 10 pounds, and includes speakers and any video converter you’d need, so the only thing you have to worry about is a power source.
Performance
The Dolby Audio and internal JBL speakers did not disappoint. There are actually speakers on either side of the projector, plus mini subwoofers, and they give excellent sound quality. In fact, you can also just use it as a Bluetooth speaker and turn off the screen, which we do sometimes.
The picture quality is great, even when it’s at its max size of 200 inches (16 feet).
Our only very minor criticism of the YABER K2s projector is having two remotes to keep track of. It comes with one remote for the projector itself (focus, navigate menu) and one for the TV dongle (YouTube, Netflix, Google Play). Since Mason usually just screen shares from his phone, he doesn’t use the TV dongle remote often; however, when he watches Netflix, he does use the dongle remote, so he has to keep it handy. The projector remote is the one he mainly uses to turn the projector on and off and quickly autofocus. Not a big deal, but who needs more remotes to keep track of?
Note that there is a setting that lets you use the projector remote to control the dongle if you go to Menu/Signal Settings/HDMI CEC Switch. We’d still prefer one remote instead of two. Because even if you switch the settings, you don’t have the convenient quick access Netflix button, etc. on the same remote as the focus functions.
One minor hiccup was when a QR code came up when Mason was trying to put a presentation onto the screen, but the link from the QR code brought up a screen that was all in Chinese. If this happens, you can just screen share or plug in a USB to do your presentation, so that wasn’t a big deal, but it could be frustrating if, for example, you were in the middle of presenting at work or teaching a class.
We really like the shutdown timer feature. It’s easily accessible by hitting the power button once on the projector remote. You can select a time frame for it to shut down (10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes) so if you fall asleep watching shows or if you have it in the background for your dogs, etc., it will shut down automatically. This gives me a lot of peace of mind, since one of our previous projectors didn’t have that option, and Mason would sometimes fall asleep and it would run all night!
What I like
- Excellent sound quality, good enough to use as stand-alone speakers
- Auto-focus button on remote
- Shutdown timer (also accessible with the remote)
What I’d change
- I would consolidate the two remotes into one
Final thoughts
The YABER K2s projector is an easy-to-use, all-in-one projector with excellent speakers built right into the design.
