REVIEW – I think every review I have done lately has me mentioning how fricken fracking hot it has been in Texas lately.  Heat is something you learn to live with, and personally, I prefer the heat over cold any day.  You learn how to be smart in the heat and protect yourself from overheating.  I always seek new ways to shade myself during my various outdoor activities.  Docusvect has come up with a pretty neat shaded chair, and I get to see how well it works, shading me from this brutal Texas sun.

What is it?

The Docusvect Folding Camp Chair with Canopy is a folding camp chair with a canopy.  It also has a back shade and optional side screen/shades.  It also has an obligatory cup holder and a pouch to hold items like your phone or a small snack.

Hardware specs

  • 35 inches long and 22 inches wide
  • roll down side shades to protect your arms
  • top canopy can be up or down
  • built in backpack straps
  • additional back flap for shade
  • UPF 50+ fabric
  • steel frame supports up to 330 lbs
  • cup holder and side pocket

Design and features

The Docusvect Folding Camping Chair folds nicely into itself.  The sunshade that will sit over the top of the chair wraps around it.  On the top side of the shade, two backpack straps make carrying this chair fairly easy.  I find the handles on many of the bags that foldable chairs have, tend to cut into my hand if I have to carry them any distance.  Since the chair is self-contained, there is no bag to worry about losing after you take the chair out of it.

The sides of the sunshade wrap around the chair, and two plastic buckle clips hold the shade in place around the chair.

Docusvect 2

Unbuckling the two buckles and spreading the chair legs like you would any other foldable chair gives you a nice sturdy seat.  The material is solid-feeling and made of 600D Oxford fabric, with no mesh on it.

Docusvect 3

The sunshade is still tucked behind the back of the Docusvect Folding Camping Chair.  I think this is a nice feature.  If it gets later in the day and you no longer have the sun to worry about, you can drop the sunshade down behind you.

Docusvect 4

To bring the sunshade up, lift the shade over the top of the chair.  A clip on either side of the shade support clips into the chair frame to hold it solidly in place.

Docusvect 5

Bringing the shade up and over the chair and clipping the shade frame to the chair results in a chair with a nice shade on top of it.  Not there is also a back panel with mesh down low.  This protects your neck and back from the sun but lets air flow in.

Under the sunshade, on the left and right-hand sides of it, there are rolled-up side sunscreens.  You unbuckle the clip to let the shade drop down.

Under both arms of the Docusvect Folding Camping Chair, there are two velcro strips.  Those strips allow you to attach the two velcro strips on the side shades.  This keeps the side shades from flapping around in the wind.  These pictures also give you a good shot of the cup holder.  It has solid sides with a mesh bottom.  This will let your drink drip down as the condensation forms on it.

With the two side panels down, you are now enclosed in a three-sided shaded area.  The mesh still lets air flow in, but your head, arms, and neck are pretty protected from the heat.

I took a picture of the top of the sunshade so you can see where the backpack straps sit when the chair is unfolded.

Here is a shot of the side pocket you have for storage.  It can fit your tablet, phone, or a magazine if you are old school.

Performance

The Docusvect Folding Camping Chair is very sturdy and well-built.  I have pictures of both me and my spousal unit sitting in it.  He is pushing 280 lbs, and the dog is about 18 lbs.  The chair had no issues holding both of them.

We had a pool party last weekend, and I set the Docusvect Folding Camping Chair up near the pool.  It was a favorite place to sit and dry off a bit while still talking to folks in the pool.  The fabric on the chair dried out quickly.  Everyone commented on how they loved the extra shade.

What I like

  • Backpack straps make it easy to carry.
  • It is a solid, well-built chair that can handle heavy loads.
  • Lots of options for side shade.
  • Your back is also protected.
  • No storage bag to keep track of.

What I’d change

  • Maybe offer some brighter colors.

Final thoughts

The Docusvect Folding Camping Chair is now my go-to chair if we are car camping or need extra seating around the pool.  The chair will also travel with me to my high school marching band competitions.  I sit on the track all day long in between bands taking pictures.  This chair will give me a much-needed shade break.
