REVIEW – I have almost a dozen security cameras around my home which have allowed me close to a detailed 360-degree view. After my first review of a security camera from Reolink, I was hooked on their brand. I waited for quite a while to get an opportunity to test and review another one. So let’s check out this Reolink Argus PT Smart 2K 4MP Pan & Tilt Wire-Free Camera. I hope it works as well as the previous one I tested.
What is it?
The Reolink Argus PT Smart 2K 4MP Pan & Tilt Wire-Free Camera is a feature-rich smart camera. It is battery-powered with the solar-powered option that allows the battery to be continuously charged. It features person/vehicle detection, night vision, and two-way audio. It supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (5.8 GHz). Recordings can be saved locally to a Micro SD card and via cloud storage. It allows you to receive real-time alerts via an app, email, and siren.

The Reolink Argus PT is designed much like most security cameras of this style. It is made mostly of plastic/ABS with the lens on the front, connections on the back, the micro SD card slot almost under the lens, and a mount on the bottom.
Performance
The first thing that I did when I received the Reolink Argus PT camera was to charge it fully. When fully charged, the LED indicator changes from red to green.
Once fully charged, I connected the mounting clamp and proceeded to mount both the camera and the solar panel.
Once the Reolink Argus PT was mounted, the next step was to download and install the app. In my case, since I already had an existing Reolink camera, I just had to add this new camera to the app. The following are some screenshots from the app:
Here are some screenshots of the actual images the camera provides:

The image quality of the Reolink Argus PT camera is great and all of the features that I use constantly including the pan and tilt work well. I get many alerts based on the focus area I selected albeit that sometimes they are caused because of birds. The camera records the movement of people and vehicles very well.
Overall, IMHO this is another really good camera from Reolink that includes more features that I can talk about in this review. Their website does a good job of relaying information.
What I like
- The build quality
- The image quality it provides
- The cloud storage option. This is in addition to the optional onboard micro SD card option
- The ease of setup and mounting
- That it offers 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band connectivity
- The solar panel
- Cloud storage subscription options
- The pan and tilt features work well
- Unlike some other cameras I have tested, this one is truly waterproof
What I’d change
- I wish it was easier to tighten the antenna so that it would stay in the desired direction even after wind and rainstorms
Final thoughts
Trying to choose a good security camera is not as easy as it used to be. There are literally thousands of brands and models to choose from, and most include features that some may not need or ever use, The basic things I look for are great image quality and video recordings, good response to movement and effective and consistent alerts, The Reolink Argus PT camera does all of this things very well. the connection to my network was easy and it has worked flawlessly. Once again I give Reolink a well done and two thumbs up!!
