Design and Features
The Tronsmart Trip waterproof Bluetooth speaker is a sleek lightweight little speaker that is surprisingly loud for its size. Connecting was as simple as holding the power button for 2 seconds to turn it on and then pressing the Bluetooth rune twice to enter connection mode. I found the speaker on my phone and connected and was ready to jam out in less than 20 seconds. One note is when my wife tried to connect, it would not show up in her list of discoverable objects because it connected automatically to my phone. So if you want to connect a new device ensure an already connected device is out of range or disable the Bluetooth first on that device.
After that reconnecting was super quick and the buttons are made of a rubberized material and the actions felt solid. I put the speaker in my disc golf bag and went out for a couple rounds with some friends. I found I could easily reach in the pocket and find the volume buttons by feel but they were not activated unintentionally by other items in the pocket. You can also adjust the volume using your phones volume buttons. I was very surprised at how loud the speaker was and although I am not an audiophile I thought the sound quality was pretty good for such a compact speaker.
An external battery gauge is not present but you can check it on your phone similar to headphones. It will last 20 hours at 50% volume so battery anxiety shouldn’t be an issue and I didn’t lose the connection even when I got more than 50 feet away but that was in an open area without walls or trees blocking the signal.
I also used the Tronsmart Trip waterproof Bluetooth speaker while working on the house outside and wasn’t afraid when it started sprinkling. It was also light enough to put in my jacket pocket when I took a walk with my wife so instead of having headphones in we could talk and hear our surroundings at the same time while enjoying music.
What I like
- Lightweight
- USB-C power input
- Quick connection
- Good sound for its size
What I’d change
- Battery gauge on the speaker would be nice but not a deal breaker
Final Thoughts:
The Tronsmart Trip waterproof Bluetooth speaker packs a powerful punch in a small package. I like that it is super simple to operate and the loop is a nice touch so you can hang it from a clip. The waterproofness held up in the rain and it’s compact enough to fit easily in most packs or purses so this little speaker has definitely won a permanent spot in my disc golf bag from now on.
