Need a new multi-functional item for your EDC? Then take a look at the Tactical Pen from Cybernetic Research Labs. What makes this pen different from others is the addition of a carbide end-piece that can be used as an emergency glass breaker. The pen is built of several connecting sections, allowing for multiple configuration options. The designers are working on developing different inserts to swap out with the carbide glass breaker to give the pen various functionalities. Designed to use a Fisher Space Pen cartridge, the pen can be used in various environmental conditions. The pen is currently a Kickstarter project seeking funding until April 11, 2013. The Tactical Pen will come in aircraft-grade aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium. A pledge of $29 gets you an aluminum pen; it’s $49 for a stainless steel version and $79 for the titanium model. If funded, the Tactical Pen is scheduled to be delivered in May 2013.
