Tired of pesky rings when you set your coffee mug down on your desk and forget to use a coaster? The Floating Mug Co. has set out to make a mug that is a coaster and coffee mug all in one. Modeled after a banana holder, the Floating Mug is simply a coffee mug that hovers above a coaster-like base that is attached to the handle of the mug.

The Floating Mug was fully funded on Kickstarter last year and is now available for pre-order for $35.99. Currently the mug is only available in white, but The Floating Mug Co. hopes to offer other color options if the product takes off.

When you drink, the drip coaster empties onto your shirt?

Although I hate those stains on my desk, I wonder how stable this cup is.

If the bottom of the coffee cup is a bit wet or dirty, I assume that the bottom of the attached coaster will also be equally wet of dirty. In my opinion, this is a truly stupid product.

I should have added to my comment that ignoring the stupidity of the thing, the price of $36 solidifies it award of the dumbest and most over priced product of the year so far.
