The Google Home Speaker is down to $79.99 at the Google Store. That’s $20 off its $99.99 price and the first straight cash discount on Google’s Gemini speaker.
The sale covers all four colors: Jade, Berry, Hazel and Porcelain. Amazon still has it at $99.99, so the Google Store is the place to buy today.

What the Google Home Speaker is
It’s the first speaker Google built for Gemini for Home, its new voice assistant. You can talk to it normally, give it several commands in one sentence and correct yourself halfway through. Ask “Turn off all the lights except my bedside lamp” and it gets it.
Sound plays 360 degrees, so it works in the middle of a room. A light ring at the base shows when it’s listening, and a physical switch mutes the microphones. The fabric is a 3D-knit yarn made with recycled materials.
Why it’s a good deal
This is the first straight cash discount on the speaker. At $79.99 it costs the same as an Echo Dot, and you get a much bigger speaker with Gemini built in.
Pair two with a Google TV Streamer and you get surround sound for your TV. You can also stereo-pair two or group them with other Nest speakers for music around the house.
Who should buy it
Buy it if your home already runs on Google Home or Nest gear, or you’ve got an aging Nest Audio or Nest Mini you want to replace. Some of the newest Gemini features need a Google Home Premium subscription, and there’s a 30-day trial in the box.
If you’re all-in on Alexa or Apple’s HomeKit, this isn’t the speaker for you.
