CIVIVI’s Neurohaptic is a full-size flipper built around a button lock. There’s nothing electronic in it, despite the name. What you get is a 3.74-inch Nitro-V clip point blade, a caged ceramic ball bearing pivot, a spring-loaded button that releases the blade, and a G10 handle, in a knife that weighs 4.32 ounces.

A Button Lock With Real Tension

The lock is the main event. A button on the handle face holds the blade open, and you press it to close the knife. CIVIVI puts a spring under the button, tuned so there’s enough resistance to keep the knife from opening by accident in a pocket but not so much that releasing it takes real effort. Press the button and the blade swings free; let go and it snaps back up.

Opening is by flipper tab on the spine, and the caged ceramic ball bearing pivot keeps the action quick. Because the button also releases the blade, you can drop it closed one-handed without putting a finger in the blade path, which is the main practical reason people choose a button lock over a liner lock.

Blade, Handle, and Carry

The blade is a 3.74-inch clip point in Nitro-V steel, hardened to 59-61 HRC, with a flat grind and a stonewashed finish. It’s 0.12 inches thick. Nitro-V is a nitrogen-boosted take on AEB-L: it holds an edge reasonably well, resists rust better than most budget steels, and is easy to sharpen at home.

The handle is 5.12 inches long closed, and the knife is 8.85 inches open. G10 scales sit over stainless steel liners, with a G10 back spacer. The stainless clip is tip-up and swaps to either side, so left-handed carry is covered. At 4.32 ounces, it’s a working-size knife, not a featherweight.

There are three versions. The black shredded G10 model (C23080-2) lists at $82 on CIVIVI’s store and the OD Green G10 model (C23080-3) at $81.20; both run about $69 on Amazon. A Damascus version (C23080-DS1) with a carbon fiber overlay on black G10 lists at $107, but it’s sold out at CIVIVI right now.

Smaller and Lighter Alternatives

CIVIVI Button Lock Elementum II with black G10 handle and Nitro-V drop point blade, open and closed

The Button Lock Elementum II (C18062P-1) is the compact version of the same idea. It has a 2.96-inch Nitro-V drop point blade, a G10 handle, a caged ceramic ball bearing, and the same button lock, at 3.12 ounces and 4.11 inches closed. The clip is right-side only. It’s the better pick if the Neurohaptic is more knife than you want in a pocket.

CIVIVI Button Lock Praxis with black aluminum handle and stonewashed Nitro-V blade, open and closed

The Button Lock Praxis (C18026E-1) matches the Neurohaptic’s blade length with a 3.75-inch Nitro-V drop point, but swaps G10 for an aluminum handle. That trims it to 3.94 ounces and 4.87 inches closed. It’s the pick if you want the full-size blade in a slightly lighter, slimmer package.

Who Should Buy the CIVIVI Neurohaptic

Buy the Neurohaptic if you want a full-size, one-hand-friendly flipper with a clip point blade and grippy G10, and you like closing a knife with a button instead of a liner. At around $69 on Amazon, it’s a lot of knife for the money.

Skip it if you carry light. The Elementum II is smaller and nearly 1.2 ounces lighter, and the Praxis gets you the same blade length in aluminum. If you want the Damascus version, you’ll have to wait for CIVIVI to restock it.
